Motorola Moto X 2014 vs Samsung Galaxy S5 - Video Comparison

Motorola Moto X (2014)Samsung Galaxy S5

The is generally one of the top flagship smartphone choices, for anyone looking to purchase a new smartphone. This year the has set itself as one of Samsung's biggest competitors, with an improved design and hardware.

Samsung has worked hard to be recognized as a top smartphone choice for the consumer, and their flagship manages to beat out the Moto X in some key categories. From its superior battery life, sharp camera quality, and its rich set of software features, the Galaxy S5 is without a doubt a few steps ahead of the Moto X.

However, in terms of design, Motorola has done an amazing job with their latest flagship offering a premium metal frame and a sturdy durable body. One cannot say the same for the Galaxy S5 which is still flaunts a plastic body. If you choice is based on the look of the device, you may find yourself favoring the Moto X, but the Galaxy S5 is clearly the better performer of the two.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus with Snapdragon 805 revealed on company's website

Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus

Samsung has listed a new device called the Galaxy S5 Plus on its Netherlands website. The handset is nearly identical to the regular Samsung Galaxy S5, but has the distinct advantage of a faster Snapdragon 805 processor under its hood.

A similar handset was released a few months ago as the Samsung Galaxy S5 4G+ for Singapore with the Snapdragon 805 processor on board.. Samsung also has a separate handset named the Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A which has the same processor but also includes a Quad-HD (1440 x 2560 pixel) display, but the Galaxy S5 4G+ has the same 1080p HD display found on the original flagship.

While we would have prefered to have the Galaxy S5 Plus feature the same Quad-HD display, it looks like we will have to be satisfied with the faster processor for now. Interestingly the newly launched Galaxy S5 Plus even bares the same G901F model name as the Galaxy S5 4G+ which was launched in Singapore.

With so many Galaxy S5 variants in the market, Samsung will eventually confuse their customers who are looking to purchase a new handset. Lets hope the company have better plans in place next year when their launch their Galaxy S6.

Samsung Galaxy S5 for Sprint receives Android 4.4.4 software update

Samsung Galaxy S5

The Samsung Galaxy S5 for Sprint is now receiving the Android 4.4.4 software update, which brings the G900PVPU1ANI4 build number... Since such updates are usually rolled out in stages, it may be awhile before you receive the OTA notification.

The Galaxy S5 launched with Android 4.4 KitKat, and the Sprint variant has been running Android 4.4.2 since launch. While Samsung hasn't issued a separate Android 4.4.3, which includes a ton of behind-the-scenes improvements, they have all been included along with the security enhancements of Android 4.4.4 with this update. According to the release notes for the Sprint model, the  update also includes support for international VoWiFi - domestic Wi-Fi calling was added back in June. There's also an updated icon for Sprint's "HD Voice" promotional content.

We don't know how big the update will be, but considering the content between Android 4.4.2 and Android 4.4.4 we reckon it will be quite large. Unless you're on an unlimited data plan, you'll want to download this one via Wi-Fi. As usual, anyone who's rooted or otherwise modified their phone may not be able to flash the update, and might lose root privileges if they try. If you see the G900PVPU1ANI4 update on your Sprint Galaxy S5, drop us a line in the comments.

Apple iPhone 6 vs. Samsung Galaxy S5 - Video Comparison

Apple iPhone 6 vs. Samsung Galaxy S5

The battle between Apple and Samsung have been going on for years now and size has historically been the main differentiator between the company's flagships. This year the Apple iPhone 6 plans to take its competitors head on with a larger display size, so how will it fare against the Samsung Galaxy S5.

In term of features, both smartphones have a lot to offer. However there is also alot that sets the two apart from each other – the iPhone 6, for example, has a more attractive design on the whole and is also an incredible performer that handles both everyday tasks and the most heaviest of apps with absolute ease, which is impressive. Its screen is also brighter and more accurate, delivering true-to-life colors, unlike the Samsung Galaxy S5. The Galaxy S5 comes with a larger display, which is better-suited for media consumption, and there's simply no denying the Galaxy S5 offers superior battery life. Even though Samsung's flagship feels less premium in the hand, it is quite practical, with a body that is also waterproofed.

Last, but not least, let's not forget that choosing between the two also comes down to a pick between two different ecosystems – iOS and Android – and that, more than anything, should give you the justification you need to pick either before the other.
