OnePlus One software update said to fix screen issues currently being tested, OTA update to follow

OnePlus One

Since its launch, OnePlus One owners have been facing issues with the phone's touchscreen. Reports suggest that the display becomes unresponsive, causing it to miss certain touches , taps or swipes resulting in a frustrating typing experience. Now a firmware upgrade is in testing that takes care of this problem entirely.

The update is not quite ready for public use, but once it has been tested, it's expected to go out to users soon in an upcoming over-the-air update. The update should also stop the random reboots and address an issue where seemingly random lines occasionally show up on the screen. It's quite frustrating that this highly hyped device is plagued with so many bugs, and we hope the OnePlus team will make a quite job of fixing all these issues on their flagship handset.

OnePlus One launching soon in India

OnePlus One
The Economic Times held an interview with Carl Pei, OnePlus' Global director, over the upcoming launch of the in India. The "2014 flagship killer" will be launched in the "fastest growing market" sometime this December.

The handset will be priced at around INR 20,000 ($325), according to Pei, but that is still to be finalized. Additionally users may not have to rely on the invite system anymore, as that is expected to turn into a pre-order system in any case.

The company will launch the 64 GB version of the phone first, followed by the 16 GB version after an unspecified amount of time. OnePlus is also building a small, specialized team of employees based in India, to provide support for the new customers – something that has not been done for any other country, with the company's support based only in China.

Pei did mention a couple of interesting things, regarding the OS for future OnePlus handsets. First, he revealed that OnePlus has set up a software team to develop an in-house OS, which means that the company may be looking to do away with CyanogenMod for its next phone.

Secondly, he revealed that the company is looking into building a Windows Phone smartphone. It is not known if this will mean a OnePlus One with Windows Phone (like the HTC One M8 for Windows) or a separate device all together. Its important for Microsoft to partner with more popular manufacturers to get their OS out there, and OnePlus One is a good example.

[UPDATE] It has now been confirmed that OnePlus One is not planning to build a Windows Phone device, and this was apparently a miscommunication between Mr. Pei and The Economic Times. In reality, this is what he meant to say:
[Carl Pei] was speaking to the fact that we are open to choice for our users and had even at one point spoken with Microsoft about perhaps having Windows as a choice for install on the One. We have no plans to make a Windows phone.

HTC One M8 receives Android 4.4.4 KitKat along with HTC EYE Experience

HTC One (M8)

Yesterday we saw the newly unveiled HTC Desire EYE with its 13MP front and rear cameras, the HTC RE handheld camera and the new HTC EYE Experience software. The company promised that the HTC EYE experience will be released to a number of HTC handsets as a software update in the coming months, and its already making its way to the HTC One M8 in certain regions.

The HTC EYE Experience is being released along with Android 4.4.4 KitKat, the most recent version of Google's mobile operating system. With the HTC EYE Experience, you One M8 will gain features like Face Tracking, which allows the front-facing camera of the One (M8) to track the faces of up to 4 people and keep them in focus; Split Capture, a feature that makes use of both the front and the rear cameras and combines the resulting image into a handy collage; and Face Fusion, a feature that allows you to make a mashup between your selfie and another portrait image.

The entire update is around 252MB in size, and is being rolled out OTA (over-the-air) to customers in certain regions. It is not known if this is a pilot test ahead of the global rollout, so there is no certainty on how long the public will have to wait for a global rollout.
