With Android Lollipop, your Galaxy S4 will gain some UI tweaks courtesy of Material Design, the new heads-up notifications, an updated multitasking menu, and improvements to performance, security, and battery life.

The update is being pushed out OTA (over-the-air) and you should receive a notification when it is available for your device. Keep in mind that the update is usually rolled out in stages, so it may be awhile before it is available for your handset.

When you do receive the notification, be prepared to download the 947MB file by connecting to Wi-Fi and ensuring your battery is appropriately (at least 50%) charged. After installing the update, your Galaxy S4 should be running Android 5.0.1 with the LRX22C.1337UCUGOC3 build number.

Samsung is pushing out Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE-A (I9506). This is the variant of the Galaxy S4 which features faster LTE connectivity and the Snapdragon 800 processor.

The manufacture has already started rolling out Lollipop for the Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition and the variant powered by the Exynos processor. This leaves the TouchWiz model with the Snapdragon 600 chip, which is mostly available through U.S. carriers.

If you own a Galaxy S4 LTE-A, you should start receiving the Lollipop update (over-the-air) OTA. The SIM-free devices in Slovakia and the Czech Republic, plus Vodafone handsets in Germany and the Czech Republic are among the first to receive the update. The China Unicom version of the Galaxy S4 LTE-A G9006 is also reportedly receiving the update.

Those in Europe are receiving Android 5.0.1 with the I9506XXUDOA6 build number, while the China Unicom model is reportedly receiving Android 5.0 with the G9006WZNU1BOA4 build. The update is reportedly 1.2GB in size, so users are advised to connect to WiFi and ensure their battery is appropriately charged before updating their device.

A couple of days ago, we reported that the Galaxy Note 3 was receiving the Lollipop update in Russia. Now it turns out that the Samsung Galaxy S4 in Russia (GT-I9500) is also receiving the official Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

The update brings Android 5.0.1 and is a hefty 1049MB in size. It brings several new features and improvements to the handset, including a Material Design makeover for several of the core apps.

The update is being sent over the air (OTA), and, you will receive a notification when it is available for your device. Due to the size of the update, it is advised that you have your battery fully charged and that you are connected to Wi-Fi. For now, it doesn't appear to be available via Samsung Kies.

Now that the Galaxy S4 in Russia is receiving the update, it shouldn't be long before the Lollipop update starts rolling out to the Galaxy S4 in other regions. As usual, the exact timing depends on market and carriers, with the unlocked handsets first in line for the update, followed by the carrier branded models.

Google Nexus owners were the first to get access to get access to the latest incremental update to KitKat, followed by Motorola's announcement that they were rolling out Android 4.4.3 for the Moto X, Moto G and Moto E.

Since the updates are rolled out in stages, you may not receive the OTA notification immediately, but it should eventually pop up in your notification bar in the days ahead. You can also manually check for the update on your Google Play Edition device under Settings > About.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with a 16MP ISOCELL camera,compared to the 13MP camera on last year's Samsung Galaxy S4. You get a reasonably large 1/2.5" sensor, which is larger than most Android phone sensors, only giving way to the 1/2.3" sensor found on the Sony Xperia Z1. Samsung has also managed to cram in 16 million pixels, instead of 13 million ensuring that the pixel size remains at 1.1 microns.

The ISOCELL technology, however, decreases the cross-talk interference between adjacent pixel cells, which bleeds light meant for one pixel, into the neighboring pieces. This allegedly overcomes the problem with stuffing many small pixels close to each other, which some argue is the reason behind the artifacts that often appear with Sony's 20 MP photos from the Z1, for instance. Samsung also explained that the pixels in the ISOCELL sensor have 30% larger well capacity. This means that each individual pixel can receive more light before saturating itself, which results into a wider dynamic range, and better color representation.

In addition, Samsung claims the fastest in the industry 0.3 seconds shot-to-shot times with the Galaxy S5, and the camera interface got a number of extra features, like the Selective Focus mode, that you see in action on the right. Also, the camera on the S5 shoots in wide view 16 MP mode by default, while the full 13 MP resolution of the S4, for instance, produces photos in 4:3 format.

However without an optical image stabilization module, the low-light performance of the Galaxy S5 might be called under question here. Luckily, an abundance of real-life camera samples with the S5 just appeared, putting the 16 MP ISOCELL sensor through its paces in various scenarios. We have the camera tested under indoor, outdoor, and night conditions, as well as some macro samples.
