Microsoft's has been committed to bringing its apps and services to competing platforms. Today the Redmond based company announced its partnership with Cyanogen, the company behind the popular CyanogenMod.
As part of the new partnership, Upcoming versions of Cyanogen's software will come bundled with a range of Microsoft apps such as Skype, OneDrive, OneNote, Outlook, Bing and Office Mobile. Furthermore, Cyanogen also says that some of Microsoft's apps and services will come with native integration in Cyanogen's custom Android MOD.

Cyanogen OS 12 (lollipop) released, rolling out for OnePlus One
Cyanogen announced Cyanogen OS 12 today (based on Android 5.0 Lollipop) and is finally available for OnePlus One users. CyanogenMod 12 offers a Material Design inspired user interface along with all the functional changes of Lollipop. In addition, you also some Cyanogen exclusive features.
One of those new features is a powerful theming engine, appropriately named App Themer, which will give users extensive control over how their phones look. Both free and paid themes will be available for download. Additionally, the updated OS will debut the new Cyanogen email, which is powered by Boxer. It provides some new benefits like Exchange support, multiple account integration, and loads of customization options. The new software will also feature a new boot animation.

Alcatel OneTouch Hero 2+ officially announced with Cyanogen OS
The Alcatel OneTouch Hero 2+ was officially unveiled at MWC 2015, as an enhanced version of the Alcatel OneTouch Hero 2 which was announced at IFA last year, as the successor to the budget friendly Alcatel OneTouch Hero phablet.
The Alcatel OneTouch Hero 2+ features the same 6 inch 1080p IPS display with Dragontail glass, 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, 13 MP rear camera with OIS, a 5MP front camera, LTE connectivity and a 2GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor with 2GB of RAM. However its unique for running Android 4.4 KitKat and featuring Cyanogen OS.Alcatel boasts that the HERO 2+ is the first phablet with an octa-core processor and Cyanogen OS natively available on the device, and it will be available as such exclusively to the North American market in Q2 for the modest sum of $299 without any contract, through Alcatel's online store.

Cyanogen is slowly gaining ground, it seems, after appearing on some Chinese handsets as the default OS, and now partnering with Alcatel. The Alcatel OneTouch Hero 2+ is just another step in that direction, but pretty important one, as the phablet will be sold to American customers directly.
