Chainfire's SuperSU app is one of the more popular 'poweruser' tools for Android users, which allows gaining root access and manages root permissions for apps that require them. SuperSU for Android has now been updated to version 2.35 adding several improvements including full support for Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Apart from this, the interface of the SuperSU app has been slightly refreshed in accordance with the Material Design guidelines. Chainfire says that he's made only slight improvements over the previous layout, as the full adoption of Material Design is not "a top priority at the moment".
Chainfire reveals that it has been quite hard to find a viable workaround for hopping over the hurdles that Google has implemented in SELinux, along with everything else that prevented SuperSU from gaining root access. However, the app might still have issues with some of the early unofficial Lollipop builds that have surfaced for select Android warriors of late.

Have you been holding off updating to Android 5.0 Lollipop in fear of losing your root access? Fortunately there is no need to worry anymore as ChainFire, has managed to obtain administrator privileges on all modern Nexus devices, including the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (2012 and 2013), Nexus 9, and Nexus 10.
Despite initial fears that Lollipop maybe harder to root than previous versions of Android, it would appear that it's not actually impossible. For now the root is limited to Nexus devices though, so it remains to be seen if devices from other manufacturers like Samsung and LG will also be rootable.
Keep in mind that you may have to unlock your Nexus device bootloader, and flash a fastboot image in order to obtain root. It is not recommended that you continue if you are not familiar with these processes. If you understand the risks, it should be pretty simple and you can follow the source links to get started.

- Download Chainfire’s CF-AutoRoot package
- Download, install and configure Samsung Android USB drivers.
- Enable USB Debugging on your Galaxy S5.
- Download, install and configure Odin3
- Backup all your data on your device. You can follow our guide on "How to perform a backup of your Android device to PC without rooting".
- Make sure your battery is fully charged

- Download Chainfire's CF-Auto-Root package from the above link, extract the zip file so you are left with the .tar.md5 file.
- - Make sure your device is not connected to computer, run run Odin3-v3.0.7.exe previously installed.
- - Click the PDA button, before selecting CF-Auto-Root-klte-kltexx-smg900f.tar (the file you extracted in Step 1).
- - As usual, place your device into Download Mode. To do this, switch your device off, then hold Volume Down + Home + Power.
- - Next, connect your device to your computer, and ensure that ‘repartition‘ is unchecked. Hit Start.
- - Finally, Android will boot, and you’ll be rooted on Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
CF-Auto-Root Packages
Please make sure your download the correct CF-Auto-Root package before installing it on your device. Installing the wrong package can cause permanent damage to your Galaxy S5. First make sure you check your handset model by heading to Settings > About phone > Model number.

- Download and extract mfastboot-v2 to your computer;
- - Download the TWRP custom recovery for Moto E, rename the file to recovery-twrp.img, and place it in the folder where you extracted the mfastboot-v2;

- - Connect your Moto E to your computer, press Volume Down + Power for a few seconds;
- - On your computer open a command prompt and navigate to the folder you extracted mfastboot-v2

The recently launched Android powered Nokia X Series offers Microsoft services like Skype, Outlook and OneDrive along with Nokia services like HERE Maps and MixRadio. These apps are available on the device through the Nokia Store.The folks at XDA developers have managed to extract these apps from the Nokia X and released the apk files it for regular Android devices. The first two applications which have made their way from the Nokia X are the Nokia Store and Nokia's music streaming service, MixRadio.
The Nokia MixRadio experience is fairly similar to MixRadio on Asha/S40 devices. The installation process is simple, you just need to sideload the .apk file on your Android phone. The latest version doesn’t need build.prop modifications to work, so root is not required.
The Nokia Store, while not as rich in selection as the Google Play Store, offers some apps exclusive Nokia apps usually not available to Android device. Unfortunately not apps can be installed due to some permissions and API problems, because of Nokia’s framework and API changes on the X family. Prepare your microSD card
- Insert a microSD into your device [REQUIRED]
- - Make sure it is formatted as exFAT (not FAT32) [VERY IMPORTANT]
- - If you have a 64GB microSD card you can use your phone to format it as exFAT by default directly from the Storage settings.
- - If you have anything less than 64GB microSD card you may have to use the computer to format it manually as exFAT
[NOTE] If your microSD card is not formatted as exFAT you will see "permission denied" errors when running the exploit.
- - Once formatted, move all files and folders from the Root Exploit package directly onto the root of your microSD card (nowhere else)
Rooting your device
- Open the Android Terminal Emulator app on your phone.
- - Run the following 3 commands one after another (capital letters are important) cd /mnt/extSdCard
./pwn
./script.sh
- - After running the second command you should have seen your $ change to a # meaning you have root access.
- - The third command is required to make this root access permanent.
- - After all 3 commands are done, close the Terminal app and check if SuperSU has any update in the Play Store.
- - Open SuperSU app and let the binary update itself to the latest (if any updates are available).
- - Once complete, just open a root application and verify that is able to access root properly.
- - Reboot your device one time and confirm you still have root acess.
- - If all is well you should now be fully rooted on the stock VRUAME7 build of your phone
[NOTE] Make sure to avoid all future OTA's to prevent this root method from being patched.

Google promised that the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean software update is on its way for Nexus devices. However Google has also released the factory images of Android 4.3 for the Google Nexus 4, Google Nexus 7, Google Nexus 10 and Google Galaxy Nexus.
If you are impatient to wait for the OTA (over-the-air) update to arrive for your device and do not rely on a root, you can proceed with downloading the factory images and flashing them on your Nexus devices. Keep in mind however that installing these images will fully wipe your device as they are not update packages.
The driver binaries for these devices with corresponding Android version (4.3) are also available at developers.google.com/android/nexus/drivers, which should allow developers to build their own custom ROMs based on the latest version of Android.
The Android 4.3 update is also being pushed to Android Open Source Project (AOSP) today. This should allow Android 4.3 to pushed to owners of non-Nexus devices as well through the Android developer community.
You can download the official factory images for the Nexus devices using the more convenient list which follows. The new Google Nexus 7 which comes with Android 4.3 out of the box is missing factory images at this point, but should get it eventually.

How to install Android 4.3 Factory image on Nexus device
- Download your device's factory image
- Download and install the Android SDK
- Download and install the Java SE SDK

Rooting your device
- Go into Settings > More > About phone > tap "Build number" about 7 times until it unlocks Developer options.
- - Verify in Developer options setting on your device that you have "USB debugging" checked.
- - Verify in Developer options setting on your device that you have "Verify apps via USB" unchecked.
- - Verify in Security setting on your device that you have "Unknown sources" checked.
- - Verify in Security setting on your device that you have "Verify apps" unchecked.
- - Connect your phone to your computer and open "Run.bat" file from the location you have extracted motochopper.
- - You will see a message on the phone asking you to accept the new computer connection (select to always allow and select OK)
- - After motochopper runs and your phone reboots on its own, check if SuperSU has any update in the Play Store.
- - Open SuperSU app and let the binary update itself to the latest ***VERY IMPORTANT OR YOU WILL LOSE ROOT IN THE NEXT STEP***
- - Once complete, just open a root application and verify that is able to access root properly.

- Boot phone into ODIN mode
- - Flash the VRUAMDK Stock Kernel using ODIN v3.07 ***in PDA section only***. You can check out our guide on how to flash your device using Odin here.
- - Boot back to Android and verifying everything is still working and kernel has flashed successfully.

How to enable Google Wallet on your Galaxy S4
As you can imagine, Google Wallet will stop working on the rooted Galaxy S4. You can get Google Wallet to work again by following these steps:
- Download the latest version of Google Wallet (R96 v16) TouchWiz ONLY.
- - Make sure you have no Google Wallet pre-installed (go to step 4), or if you do, reset data on it.
- - Once you have reset the data, go to the Wallet app in your Application Manager.
- - If you see "Uninstall Updates", select that button, but if you see "Disable" button leave it alone.
- - Using Root Explorer and text editor, navigate to /system on the phone and change build.prop lines to correspond to this

- Just download the firmware version you want from the second or third posts and extract the .tar or .tar.md5 file in the archive and save it somewhere
- - Reboot your phone to download mode.
- To get download mode shut down the device. After it shuts off completely simultaneously press the Down volume key+ Home button + press the power button.
- You should see a warning asking you to press volume up if you want to continue or volume down to cancel, press volume up. You are now in download mode.
- - Start Odin
- - If your ROM is a single .tar.md5 package click on the PDA button and browse to the .tar or .tar.md5 file that you extracted in step 1 and select it.
- If the package has more than one .tar archive then they will be labelled with PDA/Code, Phone/Modem and CSC. Just put them in the corresponding section of Odin like below.
- - DO NOT PUT .PIT FILE AND DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT TICK REPARTITION.
- - Connect the USB cable and wait for any required drivers to install and the ID:COM section to turn blue
- - Click start to flash
- - Do not disconnect the cable or turn off the device, it will reboot when it finishes.

- Download the Facebook Home APK for Android compressed package from XDA.
- - Uninstall any existing copy of Facebook and Facebook Home you have installed on your device.
[NOTE] If Facebook comes pre-installed on your device, you will have to root in order to remove it, in this case you may as well follow the method posted above instead.
- - Extract the Facebook and Facebook Home apk files from the package and transfer it to your device
[NOTE] Make sure to go to Settings > Security and then check the Unknown Sources box

- Download the following files by heading to the source link and extract them to a convenient location.
- Chainfire Auto-Root package.
- Odin3 Flash utility.
- At least 50% battery remaining on your device.
- USB drivers configures for your Galaxy S IV
- - Place your Galaxy S4 in Download Mode using the correct button combination
- - Launch Odin3 on your computer and connect your device to the computer while it is in Download Mode using the USB cable. Odin will detect the connection and indicate a COM port on top.
- - Under PDA, select the .tar.md5 file that you extracted from Chainfire Auto-Root package.
- Make sure that Re-Partition is unchecked,
- Hit the Start button and begin the flash process
[NOTE] Make sure you dont touch anything at this time
- - Once the flashing is complete, the device will automatically reboot with a red Android logo, after which you will have root access.
- - If your device boots without the red Android, manually reboot into recover to initiate the process

- Download and install the required USB Drivers for your Nexus 4. These USB drivers are required for Windows computer users.
- Download and install the Android SDK
- Backup the data from your device.
- Enable USB Debugging Mode on your device
- Settings > About Phone and press Build number 7 times
- Go back to Settings > Developer options and enable the USB debugging checkbox.
- Have your Nexus 4 bootloader unlocked.
- Ensure that your battery is (near) fully charged.
- Download SuperSU-v1.04-Nexus4-Update.zip to root your Nexus 4.
- - Connect your device to your computer and make sure you have USB Debugging enabled.
- - Copy the downloaded file to the SD card (or root) of your device.
- - Now switch your device off.
- - Download CWM 6.0.23 and save it to the ..android-sdk\platform-tools folder. (source)

However the developer community was quick to respond and have found a way around the update. This means that you can still unlock and root your Samsung Galaxy Note II, even after installing the I605VRALL4 OTA software update.

- Download and install Java on your computer
- Windows and Linux are currently supported but Mac users will have to build Heimdall 1.4.1 RC2 from source
- Make sure you have a stock version of your operating system installed on your Galaxy Note II.
- Enable developer options on your device and make sure that USB Debugging is switched on.
- Connect your Galaxy Note II to your computer using the provided USB cable
- - Download ODIN and extract the files on your desktop
- - Download the BAV Baseline. This will prepare your device for the root exploit and ensure we have root access if you have not enabled any exploit blockers. You will flash this with Odin the first time CASUAL asks you to flash a file. This is a bone-stock VRALJB kernel from Samsung. Do not uncompress. This gets flashed with Odin as-is.
- - Download the Back Atcha Verizon jailbroken bootloader + recovery. In order to flash this, you must use the exploit first. This is the last thing that gets flashed Do not uncompress. This gets flashed with Odin as-is. This bootloader was created by Elite Recognized Developer Ralekdev and packaged by AdamOutler.
- - Download and run CASUAL. You will be guided through the steps by the CASUAL tool.
- - Once the device has been recognized by CASUAL click continue and your device will be rebooted.
- - Run ODIN, click on Bootloader and select the the SuckItVerizon.tar package.
- - Meanwhile the device will boot into an unsecure download mode
- Select Up to continue

- - If the process is successful your Galaxy Note II will display options to install the the files you need to root.
