Nokia Lumia 1020 vs. Lumia 1520 vs. Lumia 925 camera comparison

Nokia Lumia 1020 camera

Find out how the massive 41MP camera on the Nokia Lumia 1020 compares to the 20MP camera on the Lumia 1520, the 8MP camera on the Lumia 925, the 6MP camera on the Lumia 2520 tablet, and the budget friendly 5MP camera on the Lumia 625.

While Lumia 1020 had no sharpening used at all, and it gave the most accurate color representation, it was also the slowest among the phones tested. The huge sensor doesn't really help when the photo has to be processed, so Lumia 1020 took its time. Nokia's camera flagship is as quick to focus as the others, but shot-to-shot times are very slow in comparison.

Next slowest was the Lumia 1520 with its near-20MP sensor, despite is fast Snapdragon 800 processor. It also introduces a reddish hue over the shots, scoring low on the color representation scale. The two cheaper phones only measured up against the 1020 monster and the 1520 phablet in color fidelity and speed, stepping aside for the other aspects.

Nokia Video Director now available as exclusive to the Lumia 2520

Nokia Video Director for WindowsNot too long ago at Nokia World 2013, the Finnish company announced several new apps alongside their Nokia Lumia 2520. One of these apps was the Nokia Video Director, which is now been made available exclusively for Nokia's Windows RT tablet. Nokia Video Director lets you create your own movies in a simple way by combining your videos and images.

What is expected of you is to select the first and last frames. From then on, you can choose how much exactly to step into the overall editing process. You can select the overall style of your movie from one of the presets, apply different effects and captions, select the music background and so on. It looks like the interface is intuitive, although it offers enough settings to suit more advanced users as well. Users might preview their movies and change styles right before they save.

Nokia has also released Nokia Video Director for Windows Phone, which allows you to capture a video clip with your smartphone and directly send it to your Lumia 2520 via NFC. The videos you create might be saved with different framerate and resolution according to your needs.

Nokia Lumia 2520 - Video Review

The Nokia Lumia 2520 is the company's first entrant into the tablet space and it looks like they have done a good job overall. You get the polycarbonate design and colors we have learned to love in Nokia's Lumia lineup coupled with the great performance of a Snapdragon 800 processor.

This Windows 8.1 RT tablet has been priced at $499, which may seem pricey, but the inclusion of 4G LTE connectivity makes it a reasonable asking price.

Keep in mind though that there are some full Windows 8.1 tablets in the market, which are cheaper and capable of running legacy Windows software. While Windows RT is a capable touch operating system, we feel that it is greatly limited by the lack of legacy app compatibility.

Still if you are looking for an alternative to an Android or iOS tablet in the Window space, the Lumia 2520 is easily one of the best tablets around.

Nokia Lumia 2520 officially announced

Today is definitely a day of first for Nokia. Alongside the announcement of their first phablet, Nokia has also taken the covers off their first modern tablet - the Nokia Lumia 2520. While Microsoft's Surface tablets dont come with data connectivity, the Lumia 2520 proudly runs Windows 8.1 RT with 4G LTE for ultimate mobility.

The design is typical Nokia Lumia line, with thin polycarbonate housing that will be available in red, cyan, glossy white and mate black colors, and the housing is very compact at 267 x 168 x 8.9 mm with 615g of weight.

Nokia has also chosen to power their tablet with a 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800, which is one of the most powerful mobile processors. The processor flaunting an Adreno 330 graphics and has 2GB of RAM. The device comes with a 10.1 inch full HD display which has a 1080 by 1920 pixel resolution and a record 650 nits brightness and sub-6% reflectivity on its display which should result in excellent outdoor visibility under sunlight.

The Lumia 2520 comes with only 32GB of internal storage. But you can expand it through the microSD slot if you want more storage space. You additionally have the SkyDrive cloud storage for backing up and accessing your files while you are on the go.

The camera on the Lumia 2520 has a 6.7 megapixel sensor with a Carl Zeiss lens and a wide f/1.9 aperture, which is the same camera found on the Nokia Lumia 720. It also has a 2 megapixel camera in the front for Skype video calling. HERE Maps will also debut on Windows RT with the new Lumia tablet.

The device has a generous 8000 mAh battery under its shell, which amounts to up to 10 hours of continuous usage. We also have the boatload of radios - Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS and even NFC thrown in, so compatibility with Nokia's Near Field communication accessories is guaranteed.

Nokia has designed a special keyboard cover accessory, which they call the Power Keyboard - "a unique wraparound cover that includes a fully functional keypad and gesture trackpad, which also provides five hours of extra battery life". The Power Keyboard comes with two full-size USB ports for full access to your productivity needs.

Nokia Lumia 1520, Nokia Lumia 2520 and four other devices to be unveiled on October 22nd

Nokia World 2013 for October 22
Nokia has scheduled Nokia World 2013 for October 22 in Abu Dhabi and we know its time for some new announcements from the company. Several rumors and reports which have been circulating over the last few days expect plenty of firsts from Nokia during the event.

The Nokia Lumia 1520 is expected to be among the unveiled devices, as Nokia's first phablet. The device is expected to feature a 6 inch display with a 1080 by 1920 resolution and a quad-core processor. Both features will come courtesy of Windows Phone 8 GDR3, which finally enables Windows Phones to compete with high end Android devices in the market. The device is expected to be headed to AT&T with Verizon getting their own phablet called the Nokia Lumia 929.

The Nokia Lumia 2520 (Sirius) tablet is also expected to be unveiled during the event. This would be the first Windows RT tablet from Nokia. The Lumia 2520 has already leaked out in red showing a Verizon logo and confirming its final destination at launch. The device is expected to feature a 10.1 inch display and powered by a 2.15GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The tablet is also expected to feature a keyboard accessory similar to the Power Cover on the new Surface, which will extend the tablet battery.

Both the Nokia Lumia 1520 phablet and the Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet are expected to launch in November, following their October unveiling. Aside from these devices, Nokia is also expected to unveil four other Nokia devices along with a number of new accessories. We also wonder if we will see a Microsoft Lumia smartphone unveiled at the event.

We don't know how Microsoft plans to market Nokia products under its management, and the upcoming lineup could be the last time that we see Nokia introducing new phones and tablets as an independent company.

Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet coming to Verizon in October

Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet coming to Verizon in October

A new report suggests that the Nokia Lumia 2520 is coming to Verizon in October. Our first impressions were that the Lumia 2520 would be Verizon's version of the Nokia Lumia 1520, which is headed to AT&T. However it is reported that the Nokia Lumia 2520 is in fact the Nokia Sirius Windows RT tablet.

The tablet is expected to be available in Red and Black with a a variant also making its way to AT&T. The slate is expected to introduced on September 26th, but the date may have been delayed due to Nokia's recent acquisition by Microsoft.

The latest rumors conform the 10.1 inch 1080p HD display which will feature 5 point multi-touch and wide viewing angles. The tablet will have 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 6.7 megapixel camera on the rear with ZEISS optics, a 2 megapixel front facing camera, micro HDMI slot, a USB 3.0 port, 4G LTE connectivity and a 2.15GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with 2GB of RAM.

Lumia 2520 on Verizon leak

The Nokia Lumia 2520 will dock with an optional protective cover that doubles as a QWERTY keyboard. The accessory will also work as a stand for the tablet and will be embedded with a battery to help extend the battery life of the slate. A setup similar to an early concept of the tablet. Nokia is expected to price the tablet at $499, similarly to the iPad, which is a little disappointing as it will run Windows RT (8.1) instead of the full version of Windows.
