Several users were left disappointed when Google decided to stop support for the Google Nexus S and the Motorola Xoom when they released Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The Nexus S was once the company’s flagship smartphone and has managed to keep up with the latest releases despite its somewhat dates single core processor and 512MB of RAM.
However the developer community doesn't seem quite ready to bid farewell to the handset as knzo, a member of the XDA community has released Android 4.2 for the Nexus S.

Google Nexus S and Motorola Xoom wont receive Android 4.2 from AOSP
Google has launched the new Nexus series along with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean for the Google Galaxy Nexus and the Google Nexus 7. However, Jean-Baptiste Queru, technical lead for the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), announced that the latest Android version will not be made available for the Google Nexus S or the Motorola Xoom.

It was just last week that Google first started rolling out the Android 4.1.2 update for their Google Nexus 7 and now its making its way to the rest of the Nexus devices including Google Galaxy Nexus and the Google Nexus S. Once the update reaches your device you should receive a notification of its availability. Keep in mind that it may take some time before the update reaches your device as the roll out finds its way to all the devices.

Samsung recently revealed which of their devices around the world will receive Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. We know that carrier based models are generally slower with the updates and Samsung has revealed which devices in the US will be receiving the latest version of Android.

- Perform a nandroid backup using your custom recovery tool. You can use this backup to revert back if you encounter any problems.
- In the main menu
- Select Wipe Data to factory reset
- wipe cache partition
- wipe Dalvik cache under advanced menu
- Go back to the main menu
- Go to install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard
- Select the zip file you download in step 1
- Once flashing completes reboot your device

Google announced that they will be releasing Android 4.0.1 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) for the Google Nexus S GSM version, and the first wave of updates have been released already. However a new post from Google suggests that they will be putting the updates on hold for awhile.
The news comes from Google's Community Manager, Paul Wilcox, who says that they will be pausing the updates for awhile in order to monitor the feedback from people who received the first wave of updates.
Apparently there have been reports of phones getting caught in computing loops and poor battery life. Google have probably received several reports of these incidents to make them want to pause the updates to investigate them. So for all those who are waiting, it may be at least a couple of weeks before Google is ready to start releasing the update out to your device again.

- Download and install OCR
- Connect your device to your computer and install the supplied driver
- Choose 32-bit or 64-bit mode depending on your PC. If you are not sure select 64-bit.
- Make sure that USB debugging is turned off.

It looks like the Google Nexus S is finally joining the AT&T ranks after more than a year in the market. The AT&T flavored device is said to be available through Best Buy stores nationwide starting the 24th of July.

It looks like the Google Nexus S is finally joining the AT&T ranks after more than a year in the market. The AT&T flavored device is said to be available through Best Buy stores nationwide starting the 24th of July.While competing carriers are offering 4G on the Nexus S it looks like the AT&T version will be a 3G device which would probably disappoint some of the customers. Those who cant wait until Sunday can pre-order the device today. The Nexus S will be priced at $99.99 with a 2 year contract.
This device will have the same features as the regular Nexus S like it's 4-inch display, 1GHz processor, Wi-Fi, and 5 megapixel camera. By expanding the Nexus S availability it looks like Google is planning to expand it's NFC services as well.
Our advise on this would be to hold off on this purchase. The device is considerably old and their are rumors of a Nexus 3 coming soon with Android Ice Cream Sandwich. It would be better waiting for that rather than getting caught into a two year contract on an older device.

- Download the official Android 2.3.2 update file here.
- - Copy the file to the root of your SD card.
- - Power off your phone
- Hold 'Volume Up',
- Followed by 'Power' button to turn the device back on.
- - Use the volume rocker to navigate to the 'Recovery' option and select it using the 'Power' button.
- - When you see an exclamation mark (!) image on your screen:
- Hold 'Power' button,
- Followed by 'Volume Up' button.
- - You will now see the Android recovery menu
- Select 'Apply update from memory card'.
- Select the 'zip' file you just placed in your card using the 'Power' button.
- - Your done...
Once the update is complete select 'Reboot System Now' and your device will boot back into Android 2.3.2 Gingerbread
