LG boasts a considerable improvements in color gamut, brightness, contrast ratio, touch function, power consumption, and thinness. On paper, this translates to 120% color gamut, a 50% higher contrast ratio (supposedly, from earlier model), and a 30% increase in brightness. LG claims its newest display has a 25 percent improvement in brightness and 50% improvement in contrast over the LG G3.
Camera
There's also the addition of Color Spectrum Sensors - LG claims it's the first of its kind in a smartphone. CSS improves color accuracy by precisely reading the RGB values of the ambient light in a scene, as well as the infrared light reflected from objects. CSS uses this information to adjust the camera’s white balance and flash color to create images that are as close to what one would see with the naked eye.
Processor and Hardware
For the LG G4, the company has chosen Qualcomm's hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor, instead of opting for the octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor found no HTC's flagship. The Snapdragon 808 is a 64-bit, six-core (4+2) processor, with four ARM Cortex-A53 and two ARM Cortex-A57 cores which work together with the Adreno 418 graphics chip and 3GB of RAM. While the Snapdragon 808 may not be as powerful as the Snapdragon 810, it should be capable of running Lollipop and all the applications you throw at it with ease.
The handset packs a 3000mAh removable battery, which LG promises will last a full day of normal use. Since each individual's definition of a normal's days's use may differ from the other, we will have to wait for a hands on test with the device when it is released.

Today the LG G4 was officially unveiled, nearly a year after the company announced their first QHD smartphone, the LG G3. The newest flagship hopes to content with the latest lineup of competitors with a premium leather design and powerful internals along with a brand new interface.

The LG G4 has dimensions of 148.9 x 76.1 x 6.3mm (in the thinnest spot) - 9.8 mm (in the thickest spot) and weighs 5.46oz (155g). Its body also exhibits a slight curvature along its height, which leads to an improved grip and somewhat better ergonomics. The back panel has seen a substantial makeover, as LG exchanged the smooth matte plastic of its predecessor for either a diamond-shaped pattern, or a genuine leather finish, complete with actual stitching.
The LG G4 is clearly an evolution of the LG G3 design. Its not "radically different" like the LG executives promised, but it is slightly bigger and edgier than the considerably rounder LG G3. LG opposed the modern smartphone glass & metal design by opting for an "analogue feel", which gives the smartphone a deliberate retro-chic character. While not everyone will be taken by the design of the LG G4, the design is still a premium and aesthetically pleasing one. We already know that the upcoming LG G4 will feature a "groundbreaking" 16MP rear camera alongside an 8MP front camera for selfies..This morning, LG has released a video that stars professional "landscape, travel and humanitarian photographer" Colby Brown, who goes through some of the new features to be found on the handset's new rear-facing camera.According to Colby Brown, even a .1 difference in aperture can make a difference in how a camera handles light. He compares the f/1.8 aperture on the LG G4 rear camera to his own professional equipment and says that it takes "incredible images in dark environments, with less noise."
The photographer also reveals that a sensor on the phone will tell the camera whether you are taking pictures inside or outdoors, making the necessary adjustments so that pictures taken using the LG G4 always show the most accurate colors. While the LG G4's rear-facing camera can make adjustments on the fly for non-professional photographers, the manual mode allows those who know what they are doing to adjust settings like the shutter speed, ISO and white balance.

Several images of the upcoming LG G4 flagship have leaked out ahead of its official unveiling. In some of the images, the phone is dressed in leather, which matches the invitation LG sent out. The leak has also revealed some of the handset's specs
The leaked information suggests that the LG G4 features a 5.5 inch "Quantum" display. While LG uses the term Quantum, in reference to the tech used in its 4K TVs, we expect this refer to a "quantum jump" in color and other feature, and not the resolution, which will likely remain at (QHD) 1440 x 2560 pixels.
The leak also mentions that the LG G4 will carry a 13MP rear camera with an aperture of f/1.8. Considering LG has already officially confirmed their unit will have a 16MP rear camera, this bit of news is clearly incorrect.
The other bit of leaked information suggests that the handset will be launched with Android 4.4.2 instead of Android 5.0 Lollipop, which is strange for a new flagship. Especially since LG is working on a new LG UX 4.0 interface, which would likely have been built with Lollipop in mind.
Finally we also learn that the handset will have a 3000mAh removable battery and a wide array of color choices, including metallic black, silk white, shine gold, burgundy red and moon violet.

We already learned that that the upcoming LG G4 will feature a wide aperture of f/1.8 on its main camera. However LG has confirmed today that the rear camera on its upcoming flagship will have a "groundbreaking" 16MP sensor, built by LG Innotek.
Reportedly, the new camera module can receive 80% more light than the camera of the LG G3, which means the G4 should be able to take high quality photos in low light scenarios, as well as when capturing moving subjects.
Besides the 16MP rear camera, LG Innotek has also developed an 8MP front-facing camera for the LG G4 "in response to the explosive growth of selfies." This camera uses an "ultra-thin IR filter" to keep "infrared light from entering the camera lens", which should result in images having "more natural and accurate colors."

LG has announced that, "as part of its most ambitious smartphone introduction yet", it's going to allow 4,000 customers to test drive the upcoming LG G4 flagship smartphone weeks before it becomes available to buy.
The program debuts today in South Korea (it's already April 8 there), and will also be available to consumers in other 14 markets: Canada, China, Brazil, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Singapore, Turkey, United Kingdom, and United States.
LG says that it's going to select participants "based on their entry responses" on the company's local websites and social media sites. More details on how to apply will be shared in the coming days through the company's websites.
Each of the 4,000 consumers that LG selects will receive an LG G4 "for up to 30 days." Unfortunately, it doesn't look like they'll be able to keep the smartphone, but LG says that, following "various assignments", participants will have the chance to win unspecified prizes.
The LG G4 will be officially unveiled on April 28, but we know very little about the handset. We expect the LG G4 will feature a 5.5 inch display with a 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution. This is close to the F1.9 aperture on the Samsung Galaxy S6, and should result in overall improvement in light absorption and photo quality. Unfortunately not much else is known about the camera. Rumors suggest that the LG G4 will come with a 20MP camera module, and a much larger lens that its predecessor, the LG G3.
In any case, we should learn more about the upcoming device, when it is eventually unveiled at the April 28 press event.
