Android is a derivative of Linux, and therefore natively works with any Linux-based system without requiring extra configurations. This also includes Mac OS X which is also a variant of Linux. However, for Windows – the most widely used PC operating system – things are little different. In Microsoft’s operating environment, any hardware component that you have attached to your system, requires proper drivers to be configured, whether it’s an internal piece of hardware or a peripheral. This becomes a problem for Android users.

Generally when your Android device is connected to your Windows computer, Windows Update will find and serve a generic USB driver from reputable OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers). Then these Android devices can be connected to through USB (mass) storage mode. There can be other cases where the manufacturer will release an accompanying PC Suite or software suite for your Android device, with the proper drivers.

However users generally face issue when they place their Android devices in USB debugging mode, an essential requirement for application development in Windows, and for modding and customization of your phone or tablet. It also provides a bridge for ADB connection between the droid and the computer. In these scenarios, the automated solutions mentioned above might not always work, and for that reason, most OEMs provide configurable driver packages for Windows based setups, so that you can get your device connected and communicating with the PC in an easy manner.

The Fujitsu Stylistic Q704 is a tablet-netbook hybrid which runs Windows 8. The device features a 12.5 inch display with a 1920 by 1080 pixel resolution, up to 256GB of internal storage, a 5 megapixel front camera, a 2 megapixel rear camera, and an Intel Atom Z2760 processor with PowerVR SGX 545 graphics and 2GB of RAM.

The Fujitsu Stylistic Q702 is a tablet-ultrabook hybrid which runs Windows. The device features a 11.6 inch display, up to 256GB of SSD storage, a 5 megapixel autofocus rear camera, a secondary HD camera for video calls and is powered by Intel Core Series processors with 4GB of RAM.

The Arrows F-07D is a smartphone designed and manufactured by Fujitsu and runs Android Gingerbread. The device features a 4 inch display, 5MP camera, 1GB of internal storage and is powered by a 1.4GHz processor with 512MB of RAM. The F-07D has taken over the title from the Motorola DROID RAZR as the thinnest smartphone on the planet.

The Fujitsu-Toshiba IS12T is the first device announced running Windows Phone 7 Mango. It is waterproof and features an earthquake warning system. The IS12T also features a 3.7 inch display, has a 13.2 MP camera, 32 GB of internal storage and is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8655 processor. 

The device will be made available today in Japan through KDDI and Okinawa Cellular Telephone Company in three colors - Citrus, Magenta and Black. At this point there is no information on international availability.

The price seams quite steep for a device even with it's high end hardware. 

The Fujitsu-Toshiba IS12T is the first Windows Phone Mango handset and was revealed in Japan on July 28. The device features a 13.2 megapixel camera, 32GB of internal memory, a thin water resistant design and is powered by a 1 GHz processor with 512 MB of RAM.

While features of this device are still fully unknown it turns out that it has a unique feature that is quite relevant to the market it aimed at - Japan. The IS12T has an inbuilt earthquake warning system which alerts you if there are possibilities of the land shaking under your feet at your current location or asks you to search for higher ground in the event of an upcoming tsunami.

You can save the alerts as a text message and forward them to family and friends as well.

Yesterday Microsoft revealed that Windows Phone (Mango) 7.5 has been released to manufacturing (RTM) and the first device running the latest mobile OS from Microsoft has been revealed. The device is manufactured by Fujitsu-Toshiba and is called the IS12T and will be water and dust proof which itself seems a first for a smartphone.

The Fujitsu-Toshiba IS12T will also feature a 13.2MP camera and 32GB of internal memory and be powered by a Qualcomm MSM8655 (speed not yet disclosed) which is quite impressive. With it's Mango update, Windows Phone will bring features like Skydrive and Internet Explorer 9 mobile to the device adding to it's impressive set of features.

Fujitsu and Toshiba are giants in the computer industry but have barely set foot in mobile market. With the vision that 'two heads are better than one' the two companies have decided to bring their mobile divisions together

1. Purpose

As competition in the mobile phone market intensifies both in Japan and across the globe, Fujitsu and Toshiba intend on enhancing their handset development capabilities and at the same time improving business efficiency by combining their mobile phone development know-how and technological strengths through the merger of their mobile phone businesses. After the merger, the companies aim to become the No. 1 supplier of mobile phones in Japan by providing highly-competitive products that meet customer needs.

2. Process

Toshiba will transfer its mobile phone business to a newly-established company. Fujitsu plans to acquire from Toshiba 80.1% of the shares of the new company by the target date of October 1, 2010, at which point the new company will become a subsidiary of Fujitsu.

Fujitsu's mobile phone business will continue to operate as a unit within Fujitsu Limited.

As a result of the merger, it is expected that approximately 400 employees will be transferred from Toshiba to the Fujitsu Group.

How will this affect the two companies as they attempt to be a part of a huge mobile ecosystem dominated by Android and iOS. Their first love child - A powerful IS12T Windows Phone device running Windows Phone 7 (Mango) with a 13 MP camera and 32GB of internal storage.
