According to Motorola senior director of software product management David Schuster, the company will soon start rolling out Android 4.4.3 to the 2013 DROID handsets. That means that the Motorola DROID Ultra, Motorola DROID MAXX and Motorola DROID Mini will all skip Android 4.4.2 to receive the latest build of Android.
Motorola DROID MAXX, DROID Mini and DROID Ultra receive Android 4.4.3 software update
The Android 4.4.3 update is currently being pushed out the Google Nexus devices, and certain Google Play edition devices. Motorola has also started rolling out Android 4.4.3 to their Motorola Moto X, Motorola Moto G and the Motorola Moto E.
Schuster said that Motorola had to make a choice, whether to continue preparing Android 4.4.2 for their DROID lineup, which would have delayed Android 4.4.3 by a month, or to skip Android 4.4.2 in favor of the newer version of Android. Having decided to do the latter, he said, "We are working to get this update to you shortly."

Motorola has reportedly started a soak test for the Android 4.4.2 update for owners of the Motorola DROID Ultra, Motorola DROID MAXX and Motorola DROID mini. To be invited for the soak test, you need to be a member of the Motorola Support Network, and promise to keep everything confidential.Those receiving the update were alerted by email on Friday morning, and told to expect the update later that day. As Verizon has still not released the change log for the latest version of Android, it confirms that those receiving Android 4.4.2 are, part of the small group testing out the update to make sure that it works perfectly with your DROID model.
By keeping those invited to join the soak test a rather exclusive group, Motorola can quickly stop the update if there is a problem, before it affects too many phones. That makes it easier for Motorola to figure out what's wrong with the update. This news also means that those of you with the DROID Ultra, DROID MAXX and DROID Mini who did not get invited to join the soak test, should soon get the Android 4.4.2 update for their phone. Once that takes place, we should be able to pass along the update's changelist from Verizon.

After installing the update, the rear camera on the the three phones should benefit from snappier focusing, more consistent exposure, improved white balance and improved HDR. In addition, you will receive the 50GB of free storage with Google Drive that was part of a promotion. Added to the 15GB that everyone gets, you will have 65GB of cloud based storage to work with.
The post also mentions that Motorola wants to get right back to work on their next update, which leads us to assume that Android 4.3 Jelly Bean or Android 4.4 KitKat maybe right around the corner for these handsets.

LG G2 vs. Motorola DROID Ultra - Video Comparison
The LG G2 and the Motorola DROID Ultra are both priced at $200 on contract through Verizon. They are both very capable devices, making the choice between the two a hard one. Check out the following video comparison between the two handsets and see how they stack up against one another.
The LG G2 has a large 5.2 inch full (1080p) HD display which seems to offer better detail and color representation. The camera which features optical image stabilization (OIS) does a good job capturing capturing images and 60fps videos. The device also has twice the internal storage capacity, a larger battery and a faster Snapdragon 800 processor. However its call quality is reportedly average and the keys which are located in its rear will take some getting used to.
The Motorola DROID Ultra on the other hand is probably the more durable of the two with its Kevlar construction. The Super AMOLED display is eye catching, and the call quality is excellent, but the camera and video recording quality does fall short. Keep in mind that the DROID Ultra runs a near stock experience, which should likely result in faster updates.

The Motorola DROID MAXX brings all the features of the DROID Ultra, including the 5 inch display and Motorola X8 processor. However the DROID MAXX comes with a larger a much larger battery which offers 48 hours on a single charge according to Motorola. This of course results in a slightly thicker 8.5 mm profile, which is still thinner than last year's model.
The Motorola DROID mini wraps it all up offering a smaller yet equally efficient handset which as a 4.3 inch display compared to the 5 inch display on its siblings.
In terms of software, the new DROID lineup will feature Touchless Control which lets you take care of basic tasks like calling, getting directions and searching without having to touch your display. Motorola has also included Active Display to light up part of the display when you want to view your alerts like time and missed events while saving battery life. This feature will be very useful on the DROID Ultra and DROID MAXX which have AMOLED displays, but wouldn't be as power-conserving on the Mini which has an LCD panel.
