Sony Xperia Tablet Z Wi-Fi receives Android 4.3 update
The Wi-Fi variant of the Sony Xperia Tablet Z has joined its cellular variant in receiving the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean software update. The models involved are the SGP311 and SGP312 models, and brings the firmware up to 10.4.B.0.577. This is not an OTA update, so the tablet owner is going to have to sync his slate to his PC and use PC Companion or the Sony Update Service.
The update is is 793MB in size and alongside Android 4.3, it also includes a new home launcher, similar to the one on the Sony Xperia Z1. The update adds the Sony Smart Social camera, support for "Xperia Theme" and a new battery stamina mode. The latter allows you to increase the standby time of the battery by an incredible 400%. The update also supports the launch of multiple small apps and brings restricted profiles for multiple users.

Sony is now releasing the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean software update to the Sony Xperia Z, Sony Xperia ZL, Sony Xperia ZR and the Sony Xperia Tablet Z.
Sony does mention that the availability of the update “may vary by market and carrier.” So not everyone gets to enjoy Android 4.3 starting today or the next few days, but the update will certainly come eventually.
In case you don’t know, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean brings a nicer graphical experience alongside Project Butter performance and UI optimization. The update also brings Sony’s Smart Social Camera to the four Xperias, plus many enhancements on other Sony-specific apps and services.
All four Sony devices that are receiving Android 4.3 Jelly Bean now will likely also get Android 4.4 KitKat. Sony hasn't given an exact date, but we'll let you know as soon as we find out.

The chassis materials are a matter of personal preference between a beautifully crafted but somewhat slippery aluminum on the iPad Air, and the rubbery but waterproof body of the Tablet Z.
The Sony Xperia Tablet Z has the advantage of besides the watertight chassis, are the expandable memory, IR blaster and the tad lower price.
However the iPad Air has the advantage of a brighter display with a higher resolution and very accurate color representation. Apple's choice of adding a 64-bit processor has also resulted in better performance.

However those devices haven't generated the buzz the company would have liked. With their newest addition to the tablet market Sony has taken a slightly different approach.
Firstly Sony built up the hype for the device name by announcing their newest flagship smartphone – the Sony Xperia Z next they included some high end features like a 10.1 inch display with a 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution, an 8.1 megapixel camera capable of 1080p HD video capture, and is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor.
Additionally the device features Sony’s Reality Display technology and the Mobile Bravia II engine, which offer amazing video and picture quality on the screen. Sony has also worked on keeping the device considerably light for its class at 495 g (17.46 oz) making it easy to use with one hand.
The device runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and while Sony has added some functionality like customized icons and the expandable dock at the bottom of the screen, they haven't gone too far from the stock experience. Another custom feature is the remote control, which can be used to control a compatible Sony TV.
Unfortunately Sony hasn't revealed when they will release the Sony Xperia Tablet Z and we hope it wont be too long as it will be a great companion for anyone looking to purchase an Xperia Z smartphone.

The resolution may not be as attractive as the 2560 x 1600 pixels and 300 ppi pixel density of the Google Nexus 10, but the Xperia Z still looks like one of the top premium tablets in the market.
The tablet also features an 8.1 megapixel rear camera, NFC, LTE connectivity, microSD storage and the Sony S-Force sound which is said to bring “a sense of spaciousness”. The device will run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box and is both water and dust proof. The unit has a very slim 6.9 mm profile and weighs only 495 grams.
The Tablet Z is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset, which should offer it the power you need to manage most tasks.
