Google has announced that it will be updating its cloud storage plans to better suite the modern digital landscape. Under a new Google One initiative, customers will be able to get more cloud storage for at a lesser cost, along with 24/7 technical support over the phone, chat, or email in eligible countries.
The new Google One cloud storage plans are as follows:
- 15GB - free
- 100GB - $1.99/month
- 200GB - $2.99/month
- 2TB - $9.99/month
- 10TB - $99.99/month
- 20TB - $199.99/month
- 30TB - $299.99/month
From the new plans we notice that the starter package for $1.99 per month remains the same as before, but Google has introduced a new 200GB plan for $2.99 per month. A highlight of the new plan is that the 1TB for $9.99 per month has now been replaced with 2TB at the same cost.
Google's goal here is to offer cheaper cloud storage to regular customers, instead of businesses, as evident by the price changes in the lower storage tiers. Besides the cheaper storage, Google One subscribers will also enjoy other benefits, such as 24/7 technical support in eligible regions, Google Play credits, and deals on select hotels found in Google Search. Google has stated that these extra benefits will be expanded in the future.
Google Drive paid subscribers will be upgraded to Google One automatically over the coming months, starting in the U.S. and then expanding globally. Users will receive a confirmation email before the upgrade where they will be able to manage their storage plan and benefits.

As the internet gets faster and our devices get smaller, Cloud Storage is quickly becoming the go to solution to save our files. The problem is that users may have multiple cloud storage solutions and keeping track of them all can be cumbersome. This is about to change with ODrive.
Microsoft offers OneDrive (formerly SkyDrive) to Windows users, while Google and Android customers prefer Google Drive. On top of that you have other big companies like Box and Dropbox which are choice solutions for your cloud storage, while photos tend to find their way to Facebook.
Its hard to choose which solution is right for you, so why choose? ODrive allows you to consolidate all your storage into one location making life much simpler.
Once you have downloaded and installed the ODrive app on your computer, you simply need to sync your Dropbox, Facebook, Google Drive, Gmail, Instagram, or Microsoft OneDrive among others.
ODrive is not limited to single accounts, so if you have multiple Google or Dropbox accounts, you can combine all of them under your ODrive and access all your files in one place.
ODrive turns your file server into your own private cloud and delivers faster, better access to all the files already on your server.
ODrive's lightweight Progressive Sync technology syncs files and folders as you browse into them. This way you aren't forced to sync tons of files you don't need. ODrive allows you to remove files or entire folders from your computer by unsyncing them. Your files stay safely stored in your app's storage and can be easily accessed again anytime.
If you no longer need to access a specific service, you can easily unlink any app folder from your odrive. You'll have the option to keep the files on your computer or discard them if you no longer need them.
Your odrive folder connects and authenticates directly against the third party app of your choice (Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, etc.) This means we never see your passwords and we do not store or copy any of your files.
ODrive lets you combine all your cloud storage into one

Microsoft is releasing updated versions of its OneDrive cloud storage app for Windows Phone, Android and iOS. The update brings several new features and improvements across all three platforms, and helps Microsoft continue its initiative to make its cloud service the one place for everything in your life.
OneDrive for Android has been updated to version 2.7.0 and will allow users to access both personal and work accounts on their Android devices. "This is the first example of how we're creating a single, unified OneDrive experience that holistically addresses what people, businesses, and IT managers need. Because people are increasingly using the same devices and apps to get things done at work and at home, the ability to store and share files in the cloud is essential on both fronts," Microsoft explained.
Those who have the OneDrive for Android app can easily access their personal or work files, easily share those files with family members or co-workers, and more. The app also clearly separates your work account and your personal account, so you don't accidentally backup your controversial personal images to your work account. The app also supports setting up a PIN so your accounts can remain secure.
You can download OneDrive for Android through the Google Play Store on your device or using the following link:
OneDrive for Windows Phone has been updated to version 4.3 and features the ability to access your OneDrive recycle bin access, as well as a number of bug fixes. This update rolled out last week and makes it easier for you to recover any item you accidentally deleted while on the go.
You can download OneDrive for Windows Phone through the Windows Phone Store on your device or using the following link
OneDrive for iOS has been updated to version 4.4.2 with a new, native search experience. Users can swipe down in the app to reveal a search box and find what you need quickly. The app also features an All Photos view, which is a beautiful and easy way to see all your photos from across your OneDrive accounts.
You can download OneDrive for iOS directly on your device through the Apple App Store or by using the following link:
OneDrive for Android clearly received the biggest improvements, and Microsoft plans to roll out these enhancements to the Windows Phone and iOS platforms at a later date.
"These updates are just a few ways we’re continuing to make the OneDrive experience on your mobile phone even better and more powerful - whether you’re at home or work. Keep the feedback coming on our UserVoice site and stay tuned for more exciting updates as new features are always right around the corner!" Microsoft added.

With the rebranding of SkyDrive to OneDrive, Microsoft recently gave away 100GB of free storage to 100,000 newly registered users. This promotion ended within minutes, but it looks like Microsoft wants to give you another chance to get 100GB of OneDrive storage.
This time the 100GB storage isn't free. Instead you will have to sign up and become a Bing Rewards member, where you can earn and redeem 100 points in order to get the 100GB for 1 year. Just signing up for Bing Rewards gets you 20% of the way there, and you pick up a point for searching or clicking on certain promotions. Basically, the average user should be able to pick up the rest in less than a week.
After putting up the points to get the storage, Microsoft will email you a redemption code and the one-year of 100GB storage is all yours. You just need to redeem the code by June 30th this year. 100GB of storage normally runs $50 per year which is on par with Google Drive, both of which are half as expensive as iCloud.
So, if you feel that you missed your chance to be part of those first 100,000 (maybe you were 100,001), you can still get 100GB of storage, just use Bing for a week or so and you will be on your way.

Microsoft was taken to court earlier last year by British Sky Broadcasting Group for using the name "SkyDrive" claiming that it infringed on the "Sky" trademark. (SkyDrive is the place where all Windows Phones back up in the cloud, and it also has apps for Android, iOS, and the web.) Because of this litigation, Microsoft is changing the name of SkyDrive to OneDrive.
Microsoft promises that this transition will be seamless to current SkyDrive users; you won't have to do anything other than recognize when the new name and website launch, so your data will be fine. Like with their Xbox One, Microsoft wants OneDrive to offer an all in one experience for your cloud storage, allowing you to seamlessly store you documents, images, videos and other files.
You can head over to OneDrive.com right now and submit your email address for more information as the launch. Meanwhile we will keep you updates as more information on OneDrive is made available by Microsoft.

Microsoft's SkyDrive cloud storage service offers 7GB of free storage which can be synced between all your Windows computers, tablets and smartphones. Today Microsoft is rolling out some interesting updates to SkyDrive with some improvements to how photos are handled.
The company has found that people mostly store their photos on SkyDrive and have thus made it easier upload and view your photos with these new enhancements.
Firstly SkyDrive will have a new Photos section which will display all your photos in a timeline. You can view and scroll through your images which will be grouped by event and time. For example if you capture around 20 photos at your birthday party and then a photo of your parking spot at the airport a few hours later, they will be storage in two different groups on your timeline.
The photos will be sorted by years and months, allowing you to quickly navigate to a particular month and view the photos. This feature will be extremely useful for those who have thousands of photos stored in their camera roll folder over the years.
You can also view all your photos in the filmstip view an then watch them in a slide show.
Another new improvement comes in the uploading performance which promises a 2 - 3 times improvement in upload times for photos.
These are definitely welcome improvements to SkyDrive and they will be rolled out to user accounts over the next 48 hours. To learn more about the updates to SkyDrive you can follow the source link.

Sony my Xperia is a smartphone tracking service, which is meant to be used in the unfortunate event of theft or should the owner ever loses their Xperia handsets. You can use my Xperia to location your smartphone and make it beep or view its location on a map. You can also remotely erase your data and lock your device to ensure your privacy in the case it has been stolen.
The my Xperia trademark was registered several months ago by Sony and at the time it was assumed that the company was working on a personal cloud storage service. However it seems the company is more focussed on offering their customers with a service that is lacking on Android devices and available on both the iOS and Windows Phone platform.
The my Xperia service is still in a beta stage and not available to all Sony smartphone owners. You have to be running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in order to use the service and own a Sony Xperia acro S or newer handset. The service is currently being piloted in Nordic countries and is expected to roll out to users as an OTA software update by the end of Q2 2013.

Microsoft has officially launched Office 2013 and Office 365 which are available for purchase in retail stores across 162 countries and on the Office website. It looks like Microsoft is choosing a subscription package option for their cloud based Office 365 offering. But it is not going to be easy to be easy to convince users to pay a monthly or annual fee for the latest version of Office and Microsoft is going to have to work hard at it.
You can also choose to individually purchase the Office apps, but it looks like Microsoft is pushing users toward buying the bundles or the subscriptions by overcharging for the individual apps.

But it is not going to be easy to be easy to convince users to pay a monthly or annual fee for the latest version of Office and Microsoft is going to have to work hard at it.Microsoft Office is heavily integrated with Microsoft SkyDrive cloud service and influenced by the modern UI and Windows 8. A $99.99 per year subscription to Office 365 will provide access to five instances of Office 2013 on your PC or Mac and will give you access to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher, and Access. Microsoft is also bundling 20GB of additional SkyDrive cloud storage and 60 minutes of Skype calls per month. If you're not a fan of annual subscriptions then the monthly option is $9.99 or there are standalone bundles.
The subscription looks like the best option for users who take the best advantage of the Office Suite as you will get get a free upgrades to the latest versions of Office as they become available.
Another change in Microsoft’s structure with Office 2013 and Office 365 is its distribution. The boxed copies of Microsoft Office 2013 and Office 365 won't include DVDs in US, UK and other developed markets. Instead they will product codes which will allow users to go online and download the software. Emerging markets will still offer DVD versions, but it looks like a majority of the users will have to download the software. This makes us wonder why Microsoft didn't use their Windows Store as an option for users to purchase and download the Office Suite.
In any case it looks like Microsoft will clearly shift toward a full digital offering in the future and Office 2013 is the first transition toward that.
