Microsoft has officially launched their Windows Phone 7 mobile operating system today, which reveals some new Windows Phone devices from various manufactures. Windows Phone 7 (WP7) has a high set of hardware requirements which sets the features of some of these devices at the upper end of the mobile catalog.
LG has released two new devices, the
LG Optimus 7 (E900) and the
LG Optimus 7Q (C900). The devices both feature 1GHz processors and 5MP cameras capable of HD video at 720p. the 7Q features a hardware QWERTY keyboard but a smaller screen at 3.5" compared to the 3.8" of the Optimus Q. Both devices will feature 16GB of on device storage with 512MB of RAM and a 512MB ROM. The devices will be powered by a generous 1500mAh battery.
Samsung also released two phones adding to the WP7 lineup. The
Samsung Omnia 7 and the
Samsung Focus both feature 1GHz snapdragon processors. The RAM on the Omnia 7 is still unknown while the Focus will feature 256MB of RAM and a 512MB ROM. Both devices will feature a 4" Super AMOLED screen with a 5MP camera capable of shooting HD video at 720p. They will feature 8GB of on device storage with the Focus also featuring a microSD slot which is not on the WP7 feature set. It is also noted that Samsung has chosen to go with the Qualcomm QSD8750 processor instead of their own Hummingbird processor.
HTC took the lead by launching 4 new WP7 devices today. All devices are expected in time for the holiday season. The
HTC HD7 which will feature a 4.3" screen with a 1GHz CPU is similar is most aspects to the HD2 but features the new Windows Phone OS. The device is rich in connectivity and has an impressive 576MB of RAM. The HD7 weighs in at 162 grams and will feature a kickstand for watching movies. The HD7 will be exclusive to T-Mobile in the U.S. while OS and Movistar will feature the device is Europe.
The
HTC 7 Surround shares most of the features of the HD7 but will additionally feature a slide out speaker and have a smaller screen at 3.8". The
HTC 7 Mozart is a camera centric device with a 3.7" screen and featuring an 8MP camera with Xenon Flash. The Mozart will feature only 8GB of storage but will be attractive with it's 11.9mm waist... The
HTC 7 Trophy is the most affordable of the HTC WP7 device lineup and will feature a 5MP camera on a 3.8" screen.
A fifth device was also planned but was only be released later next year. This device titled the HTC 7 Pro will feature a full slide and tilt QWERTY keyboard and be available in the CDMA flavor for Sprint.
DELL also previewed a Windows Phone 7 device which will feature a portrait QWERTY keyboard. The
Dell Venue Pro will be exclusive to T-Mobile in the U.S.
The Venus Pro will feature a 4.1" screen. It's screen features Gorilla Glass for scratch resistance.
