Samsung announces Galaxy S10, S10+, S10e and S10 5G smartphones

During their Unpacked 2019 event, Samsung unveiled four new members of the Galaxy S10 family: the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, Galaxy S10e, and the Galaxy S10 5G. With this diverse lineup, Samsung is ensuring they have a premium digital experience for every type of user.

Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10+

Samsung has packed everything imaginable into its newest flagships, ensuring its 10th-generation handsets dominate the landscape. You get a beautiful premium design and powerful hardware engineered to provide the best experience Samsung has to offer.

Design

Samsung has introduced a unique take on the all-screen smartphone by placing the front camera in a precise laser-cut hole within the display. Termed the "Infinity-O" display, it maximizes screen real estate for a truly immersive view.

The traditional fingerprint scanner has been replaced by an in-display ultrasonic sensor. Samsung promises this technology is faster and more secure than the optical counterparts found on competitors like the OnePlus 6T.

In a move that respects power users, Samsung continues to offer the 3.5mm headphone jack and expandable microSD storage. The devices also feature stereo speakers, a USB Type-C port, and a dedicated Bixby button for immediate access to your digital assistant.

The IP68 water-resistant design will be available in Prism White, Prism Black, Prism Green, Prism Blue, Canary Yellow, and Flamingo Pink. Notably, the Galaxy S10+ will also be offered in premium Ceramic White and Ceramic Black versions, boasting improved durability against scratches and scuffs.

Camera System

Both flagships feature a sophisticated triple-camera array on the rear: a 12MP main sensor with a dual F1.5/F2.4 aperture, a 12MP 2x telephoto lens, and a 16MP ultra-wide lens with a 123-degree field of view. The Galaxy S10+ further enhances the "selfie" experience with a dual-front camera system for improved depth sensing.

Hardware & Performance

The Galaxy S10 and S10+ feature 6.1-inch and 6.4-inch "Dynamic" Infinity-O AMOLED panels, respectively. These displays offer QHD+ resolution and HDR10+ certification for unmatched color accuracy and outdoor visibility.

Under the hood, both handsets run the 7nm Snapdragon 855 chipset (Exynos in international markets). Storage options reach up to a massive 1TB on the S10+, with the ability to expand by an additional 1.5TB via microSD—a dream for high-end productivity.

Battery capacities are set at 3500mAh for the S10 and 4100mAh for the S10+, both supporting Wireless PowerShare to charge other Qi-enabled devices on the go.

Software & Availability

The series debuts with Samsung’s One UI on top of Android 9.0 Pie, designed for intuitive one-handed use. The Galaxy S10 starts at $900, while the S10+ begins at $1,000. Pre-orders begin February 21, with official retail availability starting March 8.

Samsung Galaxy S10e

The Galaxy S10e brings the core S10 experience to a more compact, flat-screen form factor. Priced at $749, it competes directly with the iPhone XR while offering a 5.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED display and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for quick, natural access.

Samsung Galaxy S10 5G

Designed for those who demand to live on the bleeding edge, the Galaxy S10 5G is the most premium offering in the lineup. Beyond its 5G modem, it features a massive 6.7-inch display and a unique quad-camera setup on the rear, including a Time of Flight (ToF) sensor for advanced Augmented Reality (AR) capabilities. With a 4500mAh battery, it's future-proof and ready for the next evolution of mobile data.
