CyanogenMod 11 Alpha brings KitKat to the Samsung Galaxy S4

CyanogenModWith the recent release of Android 4.4 KitKat, the CyanogenMod team have started working on CyanogenMod 11, and today the first device getting in on the ROM is the Samsung Galaxy S4.

CyanogenMod has chosen to follow the number of the alphabet as a means of numbering their release versions, and since K is the eleventh letter in the alphabet we have CyanogenMod 11.

As you would expect, the ROM will include all the new features and improvements offered with KitKat including the optimizations to run on devices with 512MB of RAM. However it is important to note that this is a alpha release, which means that there are would likely be quite  a number of bugs before it is ready for day to day use. So far, the bug list includes: trouble connecting to internal and external storage, no video recording, call quality, rotation doesn't work, images don't display in the Gallery app, no haptic feedback, and more.

If you are curious to test it out and help with the development of the ROM you can follow the source link for download and installation instructions.
