New devices receive Netflix certification for HD and HDR streaming
According to Android Police, Netflix has expanded its list of devices certified for HD and HDR streaming. In order to view Netflix in HD, you need a phone with a display supporting a resolution of 720p or higher. Your Netflix subscription must include HD streaming. The download data speed on the phone must be 5Mbps or higher, and you must have the streaming quality set on high or auto.
The new models certified by Netflix for HD streaming include:

It's important to point out that not all of Netflix's inventory of movies and television shows are available in HD or HDR. You will need the latest version of Netflix on your phone for the best results.

Marvel's The Punisher: Season 2 arriving in January
Netflix has announced that Marvel's The Punisher Season 2 will debut in January. While an exact date wasn't given, the teaser video gives us a glimpse of Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) getting ready to dish out his version of justice on the criminals.
Alongside Bernthal, “Marvel’s The Punisher” Season 2 features fellow returning cast members Ben Barnes (“Billy Russo”), Amber Rose Revah (“Dinah Madani”), and Jason R. Moore (“Curtis Hoyle”). They’re joined by some new additions to the cast, including Josh Stewart as John Pilgrim, Floriana Lima as Krista Dumont, and Giorgia Whigham as Amy Bendix, along with Corbin Bernsen and Annette O’Toole as Anderson and Eliza Schultz.
With Netflix canceling Iron Fist, Luke Cage and its popular Daredevil shows, we can't help but dread if The Punisher will follow suit after its season debuts. Netflix is still working on the third season of Jessica Jones which doesn't have a release date.

Netflix cancels Marvel’s Daredevil after three seasons
Netflix continues to cancel its Marvel properties, announcing today that they will be canceling Marvel's Daredevil after three seasons. The move comes on the heels of Netflix canceling Iron Fist and Luke Cage last month - but there is hope that Daredevil will live on outside of Netflix.
"Marvel’s Daredevil will not return for a fourth season on Netflix," the streamer said in a statement. "We are tremendously proud of the show’s last and final season and although it’s painful for the fans, we feel it best to close this chapter on a high note."
"We’re thankful to our partners at Marvel, showrunner Erik Oleson, the show’s writers, stellar crew and incredible cast including Charlie Cox as Daredevil himself, and we’re grateful to the fans who have supported the show over the years," Netflix added just a month after the third season of the series launched on the service.
Fortunately, unlike Iron Fist or Luke Cage, the door seems to be wide open for the blind protector of NYC’s Hell’s Kitchen, perhaps on the upcoming Disney+ streaming platform.
“While the series on Netflix has ended, the three existing seasons will remain on the service for years to come, while the Daredevil character will live on in future projects for Marvel,” Netflix said also.
With The Defenders never intended to return beyond its 2017 miniseries run and Iron Fist and Luke Cage canceled, that leaves only two Marvel series on Netflix, Jessica Jones, and The Punisher. A Daredevil series on the Disney+ streaming service or a movie would also be an option.
Overall, the cancellation of the series starring Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, who had been tweeting about a fourth season in the past few weeks, shows just how strained relations between Netflix and the Jeph Loeb run Marvel TV have become. This became evident with the abrupt cancellation of Luke Cage last month, a week after Iron Fist was also shelved.
There also have been creative issues, with a revolving door of showrunners on Marvel’s Netflix shows. There have been new showrunners for every season of Daredevil, with Iron Fist and Jessica Jones’ also undergoing a showrunner change.
With no official return date for The Punisher or Jessica Jones has been made public by either Marvel or Netflix, we hope those projects will see the light of day.

Netflix adds HDR support for three new devices
Netflix's HDR feature remains an exclusive to premium smartphones and tablets. It has slowly increased the portfolio of devices that support this feature and has just added HDR support to three new devices - LG G7 One, Sony Xperia XZ3, and Xperia XZ2 Premium.
In order to take advantage of HDR on these devices you will need a UHD subscription plan and a show that supports it on the streaming service. Besides the three new devices that support HDR, the following Android devices also support the feature:

Netflix cancels Marvel’s Luke Cage after two seasons
One week after canceling Marvel's Iron Fist, and on the same day Daredevil season 3 was launched, Netflix has canceled Luke Cage. The show was in the process of developing its third season, making the cancellation even more disappointing.
"Unfortunately, Marvel’s Luke Cage will not return for a third season," Marvel and Netflix said in a joint statement on Friday. "Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is grateful to the dedicated showrunner, writers, cast and crew who brought Harlem’s Hero to life for the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series."
The writers’ room under showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker had reportedly been working for around six months producing scripts and taking notes from Netflix and Marvel on the Mike Colter led show. With the show being so far along in its production process, the season 3 order was almost a foregone conclusion by all concerned.
Picking up from where the show concluded in season 2, detailed drafts for the first half of the 10-episode projected third season were delivered to Marvel and Netflix this week. According to reports, creative differences and rising tensions over the past month were to blame for the sudden cancellation.
There were also reported issues regarding changing the deal for the planned Luke Cage third season from the original 13 episodes to 10 episodes.
At this point, there are no plans for owner Marvel to resurrect Luke Cage on the upcoming Disney streaming service. But we want to remain optimistic that Luke will join his fellow defender Danny Rand in being resurrected on another Marvel property.

Netflix cancels Marvel’s Iron Fist after two seasons
Marvel and Netflix have decided to cancel Iron Fist after two seasons according to a joint statement from the two companies. They went on to thank the cast, crew, and showrunners along with the fans who watched the show for two seasons. They also stated that while the series on Netflix has ended, that the Iron Fist could live on other shows.
Marvel's Iron Fist is the first show to be canceled by Netflix. Iron Fist stars Finn Jones and Jessica Henwick and tells the story of the mystically empowered NYC-based marital arts hero and Defenders member.
Netflix still continues to work on four other Marvel properties - The third season of the Krysten Ritter led Jessica Jones, the third season of the Mike Coulter led Luke Cage, and the second season of the Jon Bernthal led Punisher. The third season of Daredevil led by Charlie Cox is set to be released on October 19. Daredevil was the first from the Netflix-Disney team up and is expected to return for a fourth season.
There is speculation that Marvel's Iron Fist may find a home on Disney streaming service, that is expected to launch next year. However, it is not known if Marvel's TV properties will find a home there alongside MCU properties like the Loki and the Scarlet Witch shows Disney is working on.
