WhatsApp for iOS has received a new update that introduces several new features, usability improvements, and bug fixes. The headline addition is picture-in-picture (PiP) support, a feature that had been teased for some time before finally rolling out.
The new PiP functionality currently supports Instagram and Facebook videos. When someone sends a video link from either platform through WhatsApp, users can now watch the clip directly inside the app without needing to fully switch away to another service.
WhatsApp also allows the floating video window to remain active while navigating between chats, making it easier to continue conversations and react to content in real time.

- Instagram and Facebook video links work directly inside chats.
- EU users must confirm they are at least 16 years old.
- New group admin management controls have been added.
EU privacy policy changes
The update also introduces new registration requirements for European users. WhatsApp now asks users in affected regions to confirm that they are at least 16 years old when creating an account.
These changes were introduced as part of WhatsApp’s updated privacy policy to comply with newer European Union regulations.
New group admin controls
