Mozilla has updated Firefox for Android to version 16, bringing several new features and improvements to the mobile browser. Firefox for Android lets you take your bookmarks and browsing history with you and keeps everything in sync across your devices.
What's New in Firefox 16 for Android
The standout addition in this release is Reader Mode, which strips away clutter from web pages and presents content in a clean, easy-to-read format. You can activate it by tapping the book icon next to the URL bar whenever it appears on a supported page.
Sharing tabs between devices has also been made easier. Using the Share menu, you can now send open tabs to your desktop or other mobile devices through the Firefox Sync option, making it simple to pick up where you left off on a different device.
On the security side, a fix has been applied to prevent maliciously crafted tel: URLs from being used to wipe your phone, which was a genuine concern with earlier versions. Performance has also been improved through various JavaScript garbage collection optimisations, and CSS3 Animations, Transitions, and Gradients have been un-prefixed in Firefox 16, bringing the browser closer to web standards. A stability issue specific to the Kyocera Echo has also been resolved.
