Today concludes the first day of the Google I/O 2012 which made several rumors official and included a few surprises. For all those who missed the Live Stream, we have put together a summary of todays announcements.
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean brings several performance improvements to Android Ice Cream Sandwich. The updated also brings improvements to the widgets and UI to make interaction easier. Jelly Bean additionally brings an improved Google Search which offers voice search features similar to Apple’s Siri.
Today also marks the debut of the Google Nexus 7 tablet. The device
has a 7 inch HD display, a camera for video calls and is powered by a quad-core processor. The Nexus 7 has been optimized for great performance in videos and games with emphasis on Google Play content. You can purchase the Nexus 7 for just $199 when it is made available to the public in July.
Google Play gets new content including magazines, TV shows and movies. Android users can download the Google Magazine for Android app, which sells subscriptions to magazines or individual issues. You can now purchase movies and TV shows through the YouTube for Android app.
The Google Nexus Q is a orb shaped streaming multi-media player which runs Android Ice Cream Sandwich and is powered by the same processor that powers the Galaxy Nexus. The Nexus Q will cost $299 and allow you to stream and control your media content from the cloud.
Google’s co founder Sergey Brin gave a very special presentation of Google Glass. A special Google Glass Explorer Edition will be made available for pre-order to U.S. I/O attendees and will ship to them at the beginning of 2013.
Google+ for Android has been updated and brings a new tablet optimized UI. The web version has also been updated and offers a new Event feature. Events allows you to manage parties and special occasions. With ‘Party Mode’ you can view all the photos your friends have captured at the special event.

In Early April Google revealed a secret project they had been working on titled Project Glass, and we eagerly anticipated getting a closer look at the device.
Google knew they had to make it big at this year’s I/O and they delivered. Following a jaw dropping live demo which involved Skydiving, professional biking and wall crawling Google Co-Founder Sergey Brin introduced the Google Glass Explore Edition. The prototype hardware would be available to only U.S. I/O attendees for pre-order and will cost $1,500. The device is said to ship to interested users in early 2013.
Google strongly felt that the best way to take their Glasses Project forward would be to get it in the hands of the developers attending the I/O.

The Google Nexus 7 is a portable tablet designed by Google and manufactured by Asus, running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It features a 7-inch IPS LCD touch display, up to 16GB of internal storage, a front-facing camera for video calls, and a quad-core Tegra 3 processor with 1GB of RAM. Google Chrome was the main focus of the Day 02 keynote and we saw the debut of Google Chrome for iOS. While the iOS version is not as fast as its Android counterpart it is still great to enjoy the features of Google Chrome on your iPhone and iPad. Since Chrome syncs with your Google account, you can take your content from your computer while you are on the run.
Google Drive for iOS was also announced, bringing Google's cloud based suite and online storage to iPhone and iPad users. The app also offers offline editing features for Google Docs with great collaboration. This allows you to edit your documents offline and your content will quickly get updated when you are reconnected. You can see the contributions made by your team members and make changes accordingly.
Google also promised their continuous commitment to Chrome OS and the Chromebook. Chromebooks will be available for demonstration and testing at Best Buy retail stores in the U.S. and Dixons in the U.K.
Google went on to demonstrate their Compute Engine, which will take on Microsoft's Azure and Amazon's Cloud Compute. The Compute Engine allows developers to run Linux virtual machines on Google's own infrastructure, and the outcome is quite amazing on the demo.

The I/O event has been extended by one day this year and ticket prices have been raised to $900.The Google I/O is mainly aimed at developers, but the free goodies which have been handed out at the previous events seam to have drawn a bigger audience to attend this annual conference. The event is also known for big announcements in Google's ecosystem, as last year saw the unveilving of Google Music (beta), the Android@home initiative and the official announcement of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Looks like it's that time of year again, and the road to the Google I/O has officially started with the company announcing that tickets to this year's event will go on sale on March 27th at 7 AM PDT.The Google I/O has become known for the venue where new versions of the Android operating system are announced and this year the hope is that we will learn a little about Android 5.0 Jelly Bean and potential Nexus Tablet.
Another allure of this event is the complementary gifts which Google has been handing out in the years past. Visitors of the I/O have gotten to walk away with Nexus Phones, Android Tablets and many other devices. This unfortunately has drawn people to attend the event for the wrong reasons and resulted in quick ticket, leaving many who desire to attend the event high and dry.
So if you are planning to visit the Google I/O 2012, be ready to jump at the opportunity as soon as the tickets go on sale. You will need to have a Google+ account and a Google Wallet account if you want to get your tickets so sign up for those services right now and get ready as we countdown the days to the Google I/O ticket sale.
