Firefox 13 is now available for download

Mozilla has made Firefox 13 available for public download, following on from Firefox 12 which arrived less than a month ago. This release brings several improvements and fixes, many of which are internal and will not be immediately visible, but there are a few user-facing changes worth highlighting.

A New Homepage

The most immediately noticeable change in Firefox 13 is a redesigned homepage. It now includes quick access shortcuts for downloads, add-ons, bookmarks, history, settings, and sync options, all laid out in a clean and accessible way right from the moment you open the browser.

Redesigned Frequently Visited Tabs

The frequently visited tabs view has also been overhauled and now presents a tiled layout of previously visited pages with thumbnail previews, similar in style to what Chrome users will already be familiar with. The feature can be toggled on and off depending on your preference.

Developer Tool Improvements

Firefox 13 also brings improvements to the developer toolset, with updates to the HTML Panel, Page Inspector, and Style Editor. Nothing groundbreaking, but useful refinements for those who use Firefox as part of their web development workflow.
