Huawei Mate 20 Pro receives first software update with camera and security improvements

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro is receiving its first software update, just over a week after the handset was officially launched to the market. The new update improves on the phone’s already capable camera while adding a few other improvements and fixes.

According to the changelog, improvements to the camera include new filters and effects, an AI zoom feature for enhanced mini video recording and the ability to apply new features to videos as you capture them, like AI color, Background blur, and Vintage. With the AI zoom feature, Huawei Mate 20 Pro users will be able to adjust the focus and improve video clarity. Besides the improvements from Huawei, the update also includes the Android October security patch.
The Huawei Mate 20 Pro software update has the 9.0.0.126 build number and is around 490MB in size. Its reportedly rolling out to users in U.K. and South Africa at the moment, so you should be getting an OTA (over-the-air) notification on its availability very soon. If you haven’t received a notification you could try manually checking for the update under Settings > System > System update.
Huawei’s newest flagship features a 6.39-inch display, up to 256GB of storage with nanoSD storage expansion, triple (40MP+20MP+8MP) rear cameras, a 24MP front camera, Face ID, an in-display fingerprint scanner, wireless charging, a 4200mAh battery and a Kirin 980 chipset with up to 8GB of RAM.
