Palm announced - A complimentary phone that costs $350

Palm is back with a brand new device under its new owners, with a smartphone simply named - the Palm. The handset is designed to be an add-on device rather than a full blown smartphone - This means that much like smartwatches, it will share the same phone number of your primary phone.

Despite being an add-on device it still features some impressive hardware. The device has a premium aluminum and glass construction, with Gorilla Glass protection and IP68 water and dust resistance. Its small form factor is around the size of a credit card, allowing it to take it with you just about anywhere you go.

You have a 3.3 inch LCD display with a 445 ppi pixel density, a 12-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, an 8 megapixel front camera, 32GB of internal storage and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 chipset with 3GB of RAM.

The Palm runs Android and comes with various customizations which make it unique
  • Life Mode - Lets you eliminate distractions by silencing incoming calls and notifications whenever your Palm screen is turned off. This lets you enjoy your surroundings and company without peeking at your device. You can control what you want silenced, and your Palm will reconnect to all your services once the display is switched back on.
  • Facial Recognition - The camera on the Palm can be used to quickly and securely unlock your device
  • Gesture Pad - Access your apps by swiping up from the bottom of your lockscreen and drawing the first letter of the app you want to open
Besides these features you have access to all the apps on the Google Play Store and you can use Google Assistant voice commands to play music, create events, reply to texts, or get directions.

The Palm will be an exclusive on Verizon starting November and will cost $349.99. Since its a companion device, Verizon customers will only be able to acquire one as an add-on to their current line. The Palm will be available in both Titanium and Gold, and will come with a variety of cases design in partnership with NBA star Stephen Curry.
