Apple releases fifth beta for iOS 12.1, watchOS 5.1 and tvOS 12.1

Apple has released the fifth beta for iOS 12.1, watchOS 5.1 and tvOS 12.1 to users registered in the company's developer beta program. Developers who participate in the betas can continue to provide feedback as Apple gets closer to a public release. Meanwhile lets take a look at what's new in the update.

Apple iOS 12.1 Beta 5 - With iOS 12.1 Apple is bringing eSIM support for the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR. This will allow users who update their new iPhones to the latest version of iOS to use two numbers at the same time on the same device.

The update also brings support for Depth Control, allowing users to adjust what is captured on the device before the photograph is even captured. Apple is also bringing the updated Group FaceTime feature, which was initially headed for iOS 12.0 and later removed.

Apple watchOS 5.1 Beta 5 - With watchOS 5.1 users Apple is bringing the new Group FaceTime experience as well as introducing a brand new full-colour watch face that can be used on the latest Series 4 models. Like iOS 12.1 and macOS 10.14.1, watchOS 5.1 also includes support for more than 70 new emoji characters.

Apple tvOS 12.1 Beta 5 - While Apple doesn't have any significant new features with tvOS 12.1, the update will focus on streamlining the last release while fixing bugs and improving overall performance on Apple TV.

If you are a registered developer, you can download the latest beta versions of iOS, watchOS and tvOS by heading to developer.apple.com to download the IPSW files or downloading the latest OTA updates directly on your registered devices.
