iPad reportedly gains more storage space with iOS 8.1.1 update

Those with the 16GB base iPad models may usually find their tablets quickly running out of space as they install new apps. Fortunately it looks like Apple has been working on a solution for this issue within their release.

While iOS 8.1.1 was primarily aimed at improving the performance of the iPhone 4S and iPad 2, it also brought several other performance improvements and bug fixes to the platform. It looks like Apple has also managed to slim down the iOS footprint size with the update as iPad users have been reporting storage gains on their iOS devices.

User forums have already begun to report that iOS 8.1.1 is giving back as much as 500MB of storage in certain 16GB iPad models, and those with larger capacity iPads are reporting that they have gained a couple of gigabytes after updating to iOS 8.1.1.

Updating to iOS can take up quite a lot of space on your iOS device, with the latest iOS 8.1.1 update measuring as much as 2GB on the iPhone 6. Overall its great to see that Apple is focussed on optimizing their lower end devices and fixing these small issues as these little things go a long way in the eyes of the consumer.
