NVIDIA SHIELD tablet will receive Android 5.0 Lollipop update

NVidia announced today that its powerful NVIDIA SHIELD tablet be receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop update (which Google announced yesterday). Unfortunately NVidia didn't give an exact date its tablet will get the update, but we assume it’s going to happen in the next few months.

Additionally NVidia also did say that "more" is coming to the SHIELD tablet, besides Lollipop, but they didnt detail what they meant by that.

Like the newly announced Google Nexus 9, the NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet is powered by a Tegra K1 processor, and is the world's first tablet to use this chipset. NVidia presents it as a device that has the "muscle to handle the technologies that make PC gaming great." Besides that, the slate features an 8 inch touch display with a 1200 x 1920 pixel resolution, Nvidia's own DirectStylus, stereo speakers, up to 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, 5MP rear and front-facing cameras and 2GB of RAM.

The 16 GB, Wi-Fi-only version of the SHIELD Tablet is available since June (costing $299), while the LTE variant, which offers more internal memory, was launched in September for $399. Both models currently run Android 4.4 KitKat.
