LG Isai FL officially announced with Quad HD display

LG has announced the LG Isai FL, a joint effort of LG and the Japanese carrier KDDI. The device features a 5.5 inch display with a breathtaking 1440 by 2560 pixel resolution, making it the first phone from a major carrier to feature a Quad HD display.

LG recently detailed this display in a press release as "an ultra-slim panel with a mere 1.2 mm thickness and has a 1.15 mm bezel, which will be the narrowest available." It also "meets the 100 percent RGB color reproduction standard," and has managed to achieve the same peak brightness level as a 1080p panel, despite stuffing 3.7 million pixels on an area with a 5.5" diagonal. Moreover, since the screen utilizes an LTPS backplane, its power consumption should be commensurate with what we are seeing from current 1080p panels, too.

Last year's "isai" was largely based on the G2, so there's every chance that the major specs listed below will find their way into the upcoming LG G3.

Keeping that in mind, the other specifications of the device include a 13 megapixel rear camera, 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD  and a 3000 mAh battery. Unfortunately, nothing is listed about the processor, but considering that the phone support LTE-A speeds of up to 150Mbps, the device is likely powered by a Snapdragon 80x processor.

The Isai FL also features an edgeless design, with extremely narrow bezels from three sides, left, right and top, which makes the 5.5" display fit in a rather compact for its size body. The rear also seems to sport what looks like a fingerprint scanner which should work alongside LG's Knock Code unlocking mechanism. The handset is also waterproof.

With LG have scheduled an event for May 27th, where the company is expected to unveil the LG G3, we wont have long to wait to see if all these features make it to the company's new flagship.
