Motorola Xoom receives Android 4.2 Jelly Bean ROM

Motorola Xoom receives Android 4.2 Jelly Bean ROM

The Motorola Xoom has now been succeeded by the Google Nexus 10 which takes over as the new 10-inch tablet flagship for the company. Google also decided not to release  for the Xoom and the Google Nexus S with the release of its new Nexus lineup.

The Motorola Xoom is quite a capable device, and even though its hardware may not be the best in the market, it is able to take on day to day tasks with ease. So we found it strange that the device had lost its place on Google’s support cycle so soon. However thanks to the developer support, it looks like the Motorola Xoom has a new lease in life.

A developer (OP) has released an early port of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean for the Motorola Xoom. The ROM is not yet recommended for day-to-day use and should only be used for testing. Keep in mind that your device will have to be rooted with a Custom Recovery in order to install the ROM.

You can install the ROM by heading over to the source link below, and be sure to report any issued you may come across on that thread.

[UPDATE] We tested this ROM over the past couple of days and found it to be quite stable, despite being an alpha release. There are some issues with the keyboard on certain apps, which we are sure the developer will fix in future releases of this ROM.
