How to restore and relock your Motorola XoomIf you have rooted and unlocked your Motorola Xoom in order to install a custom ROM or other modification you may find yourself wanting to revert back to stock in order to install an official update or to sell your device.

We have put together a step by step guide on how to revert your device back to its factory locked state:

  • USB cable for connecting your device to your computer
  • Download Motorola drivers for your device [ 32 BIT | 64 BIT ]
  • Download and install the Android SDK
  • Download the Motorola Xoom system image

  1. Extract the MZ600_HRI39.zip and copy the contents into the /platform-tools folder where you installed the Android SDK.
  2. Connect the Motorola Xoom to your computer.
  3. Go to /platform-tools folder in your Android SDK and Hold Shift and Right click in the folder and select Open command window here.
  4. Type adb reboot bootloader and wait for the Xoom to reboot into bootloader.
  5. Now type the below mentioned commands in sequence after the task initiated by the previous command is finished:
    fastboot flash boot boot.img
    fastboot flash system system.img
    fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
    fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
    fastboot erase cache

  6. The next step is to relock the device, which can be done by typing:
    fastboot oem lock
  7. Enter and wait for the menu, press the volume down button and then press the volume up button.
Once the device has rebooted you will be back in stock and locked state. Remember that you will have to root your device again in order to install custom ROMs or apps which require root privileges.
