[DEALS] Get the Nokia Lumia 520 for $39 on Amazon

The Nokia Lumia 520 is considered the most popular Windows device of all time. Even though it was recently succeeded by the Nokia Lumia 530, the handset is still a very popular choice among customers. Now you get a chance to purchase this modest yet powerful Windows Phone for just $39 on Amazon.

Before you proceed, please note that this is the AT&T variant of the device, so it should ideally work only on AT&T's network in the U.S.

What's great for Lumia 520 customers is that the device recently received the Windows Phone 8.1 update, which means you will be able to enjoy the latest features like the Cortana virtual assistant and the Action Center for your notifications among other new features.

While the Lumia 520 offers modest hardware, it is still capable of running Windows Phone 8.1 fluidly and smoothly, due to the optimization Microsoft has done on the platform. This means, your $39 Lumia 520 will run the full version of Windows Phone smoothly, while Apple's entry level (yet expensive) iPhone 4 struggles to run the latest version of iOS.

For $39, you get a 4 inch display with a 480 by 800 pixel resolution, 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 5MP rear camera and a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor with 512MB of RAM.

If you are an AT&T customer or have a GSM SIM card on one of AT&T's MVNO networks, you should be able to enjoy the luxury of owning this device at a very affordable price. You can get your hands on the Lumia 520 from Amazon by following the source link below.

Nokia Lumia 520 for AT&T receives Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Cyan

Nokia Lumia 520 for AT&T receives Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia CyanMicrosoft is now rolling out the Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Cyan for the Nokia Lumia 520 on AT&T. The update is also rolling out for AT&T's Lumia 925 and follows on the heels of the Lumia 1520 receiving the same software update.

Nokia suggests users consider their affordable Lumia 520 instead of the 8GB iPhone 5c

Nokia Lumia 520
Today Apple released an 8GB variant of its iPhone 5c in select markets, citing it as a more affordable alternative. Unfortunately more affordable does not mean cheap as the device is selling for around €550 (the equivalent of $765) across Europe, as much as many top-shelf devices. Nokia used this fact to point out that users should consider their Lumia 520 instead of the iPhone 5c

The Nokia Lumia 520 features a 4 inch display with a 480 by 800 pixel resolution, 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded with microSD, a 5MP rear camera and a 1GHz dual-core processor with 512MB of RAM.

Meanwhile the Apple iPhone 5c features a 4 inch Retina Display with a 640 by 1136 pixels resolution, it has up to 32GB of storage, an 8MP rear iSight camera, a secondary FaceTime camera and a dual-core Apple A6 processor with 1GB of RAM.

Hey Apple: 'Today we announce a colourful, fast and affordable 8GB smartphone

While the iPhone 5c is clearly the better device between the two, it still doesn't justify its high price. The Lumia 520 is also actually multiple times cheaper than an iPhone 5c, as Nokia has dropped its full retail price to as low as $70 in some markets like the United States.

Even the high end Lumia 920, which is available in multiple colors and offers an even better camera than the one found on the iPhone can be purchased for lesser than Apple's affordable offering.

Do you think Apple's pricing for their smartphones are fair? Does Nokia have some point in bringing up this comparison?

Nokia Lumia 520 offered at $69.99 through Amazon Prime

Nokia Lumia 520 for AT&T
The Nokia Lumia 520 is one of the most popular Windows Phone 8 devices. The amazing demand for the entry-level model and its T-Mobile branded twin, the Nokia Lumia 521, has helped Windows Phone pick up some traction in the smartphone industry during 2013. Whenever the Nokia Lumia 521 goes on sale in the U.S., whether by Walmart, HSN, T-Mobile or others, the phone sells out quickly.

Now Amazon Prime is offering an amazing deal on the Nokia Lumia 520 for AT&T, offering the device for a low price of $69.99. This is all you have to pay for a fully operational and capable smartphone, no contract necessary. In addition, if you are an Amazon Prime member, shipping is free. Insert any AT&T SIM card into the handset and you can get PAYG service using the phone. If you have an AT&T account, you can use the phone immediately without signing a contract.

The Nokia Lumia 521 features a 4 inch LCD touch display with a 480 by 800 pixel resolution, 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 5 megapixel rear camera and a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor with 512MB of RAM.

The Nokia Lumia 520 specifications include a 4.0 inch touch display, 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 5 megapixel camera capable of 720p HD video capture and a 1GHz dual-core processor with 512 MB of RAM.

Nokia Lumia 520 becomes top selling Windows device

The Nokia Lumia 520 has risen in the ranks to become the top selling Windows device in the world. That means it has beaten other Windows Phones and even Windows powered PCs and tablets. The little Lumia 520 has proven that not everyone is looking for the top specs or the biggest displays as the venerable entry into the Windows Phone market has shown that a well priced product can win over a strong user base.

The Nokia Lumia 521 for T-Mobile much like its international cousin has been blessed with an ultra affordable price, recently being offered for no more than $80 contract free.

For its low pricing the specifications are actually quite reasonable. The Lumia 520 and the Lumia 521 feature a 4.0 inch touch display, 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 5 megapixel camera capable of 720p HD video capture and a 1GHz dual-core processor with 512MB of RAM.

In fact it is only the 512MB of RAM which limits the device compared to some of Nokia's flagships. For example, while the Lumia 520 received FM radio reception with the recent GDR2 update, it did not receive the new Glance screen feature which allows the phone to be woken up from sleep mode with two taps to the screen.

Microsoft itself has realized how important the Nokia Lumia 520 has become, not just for Windows Phone, but for the entire universe of Windows products. While devices like the costly Nokia Lumia 1020 flagship which was recently discounted as it struggles to keep up with Android and iPhone flagships, the entry level Lumia is making a bigger name for itself.

Microsoft seems to want to move forward, as the upcoming GDR3 update will bring quad-core and full HD support to Windows Phone 8. We would prefer Microsoft working on optimizing their platform and removing limitations for entry level devices and even allowing Windows Phone to work with single core devices like the old Windows Phone 7.x devices which have been left without any updates.

Microsoft is still not ready to compete with Android and iOS in the app department. Until they can do that, they should make sure they push their popular entry level devices instead of churning out powerful devices like the Nokia Lumia 1520 phablet which will end up having a very short shelf life.

Nokia Lumia 520 vs. Nokia Lumia 720

The Nokia Lumia 720 looks sleeker, has a longer lasting battery, NFC and an amazing display along with an amazing camera. However the affordability of the Nokia Lumia 520 which packs a decent set of specifications makes it a worthy device capable of taking on (and besting) most of the affordable Android handsets in the market. If price is not a factor the Lumia 720 will be a clear winner, however you wont get a better performer for the cost of your Lumia 520.

You can read a detailed comparison of the Nokia Lumia 520 and the Nokia Lumia 720 on PhoneArena.

Nokia Lumia 520 vs. Nokia Lumia 620

The Nokia Lumia 620 and the Nokia Lumia 520 are two of the more affordable handsets in Nokia's Windows Phone 8 lineup. The Lumia 620 offers the better display despite being smaller but that advantage results in it costing nearly 50% more than its sibling. However they both offer a near identical Windows experience leaving the user to select a device which suits their budget and personal preference.
