Microsoft Office for Android now available for tablets

Microsoft Office for Android tablets

Back in November, Microsoft released a closed preview version of its Office suite for Android tablets. Now Microsoft has made Office for Android tablets available to the public through the Google Play Store.

Microsoft Office apps have been available on Android for quite some time now, but required an Office 365 subscription, which eventually put off the users. Now Microsoft has rebuilt Office for Android tablets, much like the version of Office for iOS which was released for iPad users. You can download the apps directly on your Android tablets through the Google Play Store or using the following links:

Currently it seems that you will need to meet the following minimum requirements in order to use Office for Android tablets:
  • Devices running an Android OS version 4.4.x (KitKat) and
  • ARM processor-based devices with 1GB+ RAM and
  • Devices with screen sizes larger than or equal to 7 inches and less than 10.1 inches
Its important to note that Android 5.0 Lollipop is not supported at this time. Also users will Intel CPU's have noted incompatibility with their devices.
