Gigabyte unveils a trio of new affordable GSmart Android phones


GigabyteTaiwan-based tech manufacturer Gigabyte, is mostly known for making motherboards, graphics cards and other PC hardware, but it is no stranger to the smartphone market. Today the company has unveiled three new Android 4.4 KitKat smartphones - the , the , and the.

The GSmart Guru GX is the most powerful of the three, featuring a 5 inch display with a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution, 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 13MP rear camera with a Sony Exmor sensor, a 5MP front camera, a 2300mAh battery and a 1.5GHz 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor with 2GB of RAM.


Next we have the GSmart Mika MX, a mid-range device which features a 5 inch display with a 540 x 960 pixel resolution, 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 5MP rear camera, a 2MP front camera, two SIM card slots, a 3000mAh battery, LTE connectivity, and a 1.2GHz 64-bit quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor with 1GB of RAM.


Finally we have the GSmart Roma RX, which features a 5 inch display with a 480 x 854 pixel resolution, 4GB of internal storage which can be expanded through microSD, a 5MP rear camera, a secondary VGA camera, a 2000mAh battery and a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor with 512MB of RAM.


The GSmart Mika MX and the GSmart Roma RX will launch this February, followed by the GSmart Guru GX, which is scheduled to arrive in March. While Gigabyte hasn't revealed the prices for the new handsets, we expect them to be relatively affordable based on the company's track record of making low-cost phones.
