Apple iOS 8.1.3 now available for download

Apple iOS 8.1.3

Apple iOS 8.1.3 has been released for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, with various bug fixes and minor performance enhancements in tow. The update follows iOS 8.1.2 which was released last month and continues to eradicate bugs which slipped through the cracks with the initial iOS 8.0 release in September last year..

According to the official changelog from Apple, the iOS 8.1.3 update has the following new features and improvements:
  • Reduces the amount of storage required to perform a software update
  • Fixes an issue that prevented some users from entering their Apple ID password for Messages and FaceTime
  • Addresses an issue that caused Spotlight to stop displaying app results
  • Fixes an issue which prevented multitasking gestures from working on iPad
  • Adds new configuration options for education standardized testing.
You can find information on the security content of the iOS 8.1.3 update here.

The update is available for download OTA directly on your iOS device and can be initiated by heading to Settings > General > Software Update.

If you prefer manual installation through iTunes, you can do so by downloading the iOS 8.1.3 IPSW file for your device using the following links:
You can manually restore the IPSW file using iTunes by selecting the file while pressing down Shift on your PC (Alt on Mac) while clicking Restore under your device summary.

Jailbreak Status of iOS 8.1.3

As of now, it looks like iOS 8.1.3 has blocked the exploits that made TaiG’s and PP Jailbreak’s untether possible on iOS 8.1.1 and iOS 8.1.2. If you are jailbroken on either of those aforementioned pieces of firmware, DO NOT update to iOS 8.1.3 just yet, and we’ll keep an eye out for any info regarding the state of jailbreaking on this latest enhancement.
