Samsung announces Exynos 5422 Octa and Exynos 5260 Hexa processors, both supporting Quad HD displays

SamsungSamsung announced two new mobile processors at MWC 2014. The Samsung Exynos 5422 Octa and the Samsung Exynos 5260 Hexa. Both support high-resolution displays, including Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) and WQXGA (2560 x 1600 pixels), making us wonder if a Quad-HD version of the Galaxy S5 may be introduced later this year.

The Samsung Exynos 5422 Octa is a high end processor with includes eight cores: four ARM Cortex-A15 cores clocked at up to 2.1 GHz, and four smaller ARM Cortex-A7 cores clocked at up to 1.5 GHz. The 5422 uses 28nm technology, and comes with Samsung's optimized big.LITTLE HMP (Heterogeneous Multi-processing), being capable of delivering up to 34% higher performance than the company’s previous Exynos Octa processors. The Exynos 5422 will enter mass production this quarter
